Track tire - Front vs. Rear

Swap out both front and rear at same time... or are y'all getting two rears to one front?

There is a three pack going on with two rears and a front... but I've always done both front/rear at same time.

Edit - and a second question: what is the difference between the superbike pro and superbike pro slick?

Yeah 1 front for 2 rears, no need to waste money switching out the front at the same time unless you are switching brands. You mean the difference between the pro and non pro? They are both slicks. From my understanding the non pro is more of a race tire where the pro is a track day slick which lasts longer.

Depends on the track for me. I might only get a set to last a day, I might get 2 rears to a front.

The superbike pro is Pirelli's track day tire it is a harder compound that heats up very well and can be used without Warmers, it is the dragon without sipes. The superbike slick (which is not a "pro") is the full on racing slick, does need Warmers.

The best bang for your buck is the Pirelli superbike pro slicks. I've seen guys get 10 weekends on a set, I am putting a set on my bike for coaching this season I don't need to have a stack of 30 tires to run through again this year thanks to the Pirelli. With that said, if I wanted to go fast and continue racing I will be putting back on the Michelin power cups :fact

Funny you say that; here is a good read on the longevity of the pro.

i would say at least 2 rears to 1 front. possibly more.

superbike pro is more of a track day tire. not really meant for the street at all, but not really a full race tire, either. the superbike slick is a full-on race tire, not even legal for use on public roads.

unless you're doing ALL track days with your bike, i don't recommend either of these tires. stick with something like the Q2 or power pure...

softer rubber is usually going to offer more grip and lower lap times.. but will require a fatter wallet to pay for more tires.

as most stated, you are gonna usually need more rear tires than front.
