Blew pcv valve on highway, lost oil, heaps of problems follow...

It all started when I was riding on the highway running about 135mph. My oil light came on, and looked behind me for my friends, and all I could see is a cloud of white smoke.

I pulled off to a gas station only about 2\10 of a mile down the road and filled up with cheap oil. it was smoking the way home because of no breather hose.

The next day I did a regular oil change, and there was nothing too alarming in the oil, or filter. But it continues to run like rubbish.
My top speed was 135 MAX and took awhile to get there. It bogged down while idling, backfired constantly just little burps, and generally sucked to ride. A friend suggested i may only be running on 3 cylinders.

I pulled the plugs

Bad plug would be on the left of bike.

edit: the battery is on its last leg, that might have something to do with it.

SOOO I replaced the plugs, and regained some power, but not all of it. I still have poor low end power, medium mid range, and after about 7000rpm it runs okay. while I was in there I cleaned the carbs, checked the seals everything was good.
maybe I did not seat the carbs correctly..

Yeah, Im no mechanic either but those 2 plugs have defiantly seen better days!!
I hope they can help! because when I took it to a mechanic for a diagnostic he wanted to start with the plugs, and would charge $150 for it. He said it might not even fix the problem D:

Common guys... i'm not trying to show off you don't have to get smart.. I know what this bike is capable of, i'm just saying I was pushing alot of rpms when this happened. Maybe the stress caused a failure.

Most likely blew a set of rings on that one cylinder. Or damaged a piston. The only way the crankcase can get pressurized like that is from cylinder pressure. The smoke is the bike trying to burn the oil in the cylinder. Compression test is the starting point. Also check the exhaust for unburnt oil.

:eek5 That one spark plug looks just right! :laugh

^^^^ this. Crankcase over pressure is pressure escaping from the combustion chamber (cylinders). That much pressure is normally from the rings not through the valve guides...

As was mentioned, start with a compression check.
:fact blow-by SUCKS!!

So on advice from the local dealership, I pulled the motor. 'it just got worse from there..

That is the inside of my cylinder.
I don't even know where to begin... they look like they are sleeved am I correct?
New motor. Find a used one, put an 03-05 trans in it, and don't look back. :fact

Screw eBay... Start shopping around on Craigslist, Wera classifieds, and other Sites like that. You'll find a motor cheaper then $800-1000. It'll just take a bit of patience and effort on your part. You could also post up a WTB (want to buy) thread here on The Forum...

:cheers

Well cases are not even close to all your gonna need. You need pistons, rings, bearings, and gaskets just for starters. The list only goes on from there. Also what about the head? Those pieces of the cylinder had to go somewhere. Where was that? The best thing you can do is a used engine. Otherwise your gonna spend way more building one. Just MHO.

Yeah im probly somewhat to blame, I put 13k on it in 8 months, But I did like 5 oil changes. Who I got it from probably put some wear on it before me though.

Well I was able to score a top half engine case, with transmission, and pistons for only 75$!! Now all I need is gaskets would http://www.solomotoparts.com/Athena-Complete-Gasket-Kit-for-YZF-R6-99-02/ this work??, lube, and i think im good to go. am i missing anything?

OK so its going great. got my cases together, installed clutch, stator\generator, new oil pump and clutch springs.

I can hear this baby purr already!!

Here it is in pieces

making progress...

One of my valves is kind of injured, but they all seat and clearance in in spec.

Today is timing the valves, ive never done this but seems straight forward.

I has a nightmare my circlips kept popping out of the piston when I was riding. It was horrible hahaha
