Looking good!! looks like you're pretty much set for your race:nocontrol
Question though...y u no solder gear indicator wires? (pet peeve...i HAVE to solder all wires:lmao)

#633 ·
Funny you ask, I solder everything... But had zero interest in pulling the tank completely off so I'd have the room to do any soldering. So I just went with the taps and butt connectors. It did the job.. Needing to get so much done I didn't want to add even more time soldering and shrink wrapping everything. I've gotta get this thing wrapped up by tomorrow, so I took a bit of a short cut. It'll work for the time being! Siked to get out there man, thanks!

:cheers

Looks good Adam. Hope the track is treating you well. In for an update on Monday.

#641 ·
No, they were races... I got a race license Saturday...

The tires worked soooooo well! That, and everything else, like the ECU flash were outstanding! I was gaining on other 600's on the back straight... It was sick! Starting to update the track day thread!

There are some pics up, videos and pics from the photographer are coming as well!

A few changes were made with some Christmas gifts...

Sold the Woodcrafts and got these Vortex assembled and installed... I've got to install the Motion Pro throttle tomorrow... Straight to pics!

The start of a very long process... Christmas brings LOTS of boxes out of storage, which have taken over my side of the garage. :(

after cleaning up QUITE A BIT...

Then it was time to get to work on these rearsets...

Then I ran into a bit of an issue... Does ANYONE know what the stock bolt looks like that holds the stock shifter in place???

I went through my bag of bolts that came off this bike and have no idea where that bolt went... :nono

Where can I get just that bolt? Anyone know? That pretty much wound down my night... After RE-organizing to get the car back in and all...

I'll tell you one thing, I hate having to share a garage... and can't wait until all the Christmas shit comes down and goes back into storage and I can have my half of the garage back... :nono

Tomorrow, the Motion Pro install... Stay tuned...

If anyone knows of a how to on this and could post up a link that'd be great. I searched here, and google/youtube and didn't find much at all. If there's not one, I guess I'll do a How-to...

:cheers

I can't REALLY complain man... I live in what I consider a mansion, at 27, with my rents... So with no bills really, it's a pretty sweet deal. Moved back after the military to go to school. So for now, it works... I will say it's quite interesting after leaving home after high school and living on my own for so long to coming back and living under the same roof. But shit, it's a sweet ass house, I'm saving money, and getting my degree. Can't beat that!

#649 ·
After a little more research, maybe I'm just not pulling up hard enough... I've got the fcukin clamps on each cylinder of the throttle body loose. Headed back out to tear this fcukin thing off!

#650 ·
Well... success!

What a fcukin install... :laugh

But now, I've got blue, red, yellow, and BLACK power bands!

Pics up in a bit... They're uploading and I'm gonna hit the chowa... Update in a bit...

#651 ·
Let's get started!

I THOUGHT this would be a good idea, to suspend the tank while I worked...

Scrapped that idea REAL quick... I could not get at the throttle body with the tank and ladder and all... :nono

FINALLY got the mother farkin throttle body off...

Those^ clamps at the base of each cyclinder/throttle body you can clearly see are practically impossible to get at if you have hands any bigger then a 3rd grade school girl...

In with the NEW!

Throttle body back in and plugged up...

Starting to put it all back together now...

Throw the grip on real quick...

She's all wrapped up...

Except for this little dilemma...

I'll be on the hunt tonight for that bolt online somewhere. If anyone has upgraded rearsets and doesn't use that bolt and stock shifter or knows where I can order one shoot me a PM. I'd gladly pay someone to send me that specific bolt. THEN, it'll be done and ready for the track come February...

Sorry Kev, totally missed this...

Removing the tank, airbox and all are relatively simple. Gad will drip a bit from the top of the airbox fuel line, and also from the bottom of the tank when you undo those hoses, so have paper towels underneath or in hand. Other then that it's all simple allen screws, and the airbox is phillip head screws. The rest just unplugs. To be completely honest, if you're installing smog block offs, do your spark plugs, throttle, and anything else that requires all that stuff coming off because it is quite time consuming removing the tank, top of the airbox, filter, bottom of the airbox, and in this case the throttle body... That'd just be my recommendation... If you're getting into it just let me know. You've got my number right? If not, PM me. You can call or text anytime. I can walk you through stuff like that...

:cheers

So what you're saying is you have hands like a 2nd grade school girl???
That must have been a real PITA!

When I took my gas tank off when I painted my bike I had to make a small metal sleeve to disconnect the hoses. What is the trick to taking them off without any special tools?

What does the Motion Pro throttle do?

#654 ·
Thanks! I really appreciate that! Damn bolt is $8 bucks... :laugh

#653 ·
Nice Adam! That might be my next mod next winter. I need to install my smog plates and need to take off the tank. All I have to do is unplug everything, hoses and wires, and remove the bolt by the seat correct? Gas doesn't leak out when I unplug the hoses, maybe just a little of what is in the hoses?

Just ordered those couple little parts... Ordered the washers and all too, since I have no clue where any of that went. Surprising too because I've got bags of bolts, and bins of parts... Just shy of $20 including shipping and I'll be in business!

Thanks again for that link!

:cheers

#658 ·
word of advice Sand down those peg or you'll be buying new set of boots soon.''

the vortex are really aggressive with the peg design but really grippy.

you did your motion pro a little different than me, i didnt remove the throttle bodies i just fished the cables thru and fcuked with it for awhile, your way was easier

#659 ·
Yeah I tried figuring out a way to do it without removing it, but could NOT get my hands in there for shit. I also didn't want to fray the cable of anything fcuking around trying to get it to work, or using needle nose plyers... Pulled it out, got the cables attached and lubed on both ends and she's good to go! What reel do you use?

#661 ·
OOOOOOOOOHH nice! I will be buying the motion pro soon. So all you need to do to remove the throttle body is remove the clamps and pull the assembly out?

#662 ·
Yes sir! But make sure they're stupid loose before you start trying to pull the throttle body up off... I loosened them up quite a bit and rocked my bike off the front stand trying to pull the throttle body up and out. It stayed on the rear stand though... It was definitely an OH SHIT moment. So when you do, just make sure you loosen them real good, and it comes up relatively easily! Hit me up when you do if you need any pointers bro! You got my number right? If not, PM me... I give my number out to anyone that wants or needs help with anything I can...

I actually love the grips it comes with. They're a dual compound Motion Pro grip. I actually had them on before I did the throttle. Ant sold me his set from when he installed his Motion Pro. So I've been using them for awhile. Real nice grips, and the few trackdays and race weekend I did with them, they showed 0 wear... Which is nice since they are a bit softer, and I assumed they'd wear out quickly... These grips are definitely a step up from the stockers... :fact

:cheers

#686 ·
I had the Renthal Kevlars and went to the motion pros since they were ready to be tossed anyways and they are nice

#687 ·
Right? I thought so too... I"m happy with them... At least, they'll do for now... Like I said, they haven't shown any wear yet, except from the wreck. A few small pieces of the end were ground off... But that's to be expected... :laugh

New one's on there now with the new Motion Pro... So I've got spares and the stock throttle just in case I need it...

I'm always around to help you guys out too, with what I can... I'm no pro by any means, but I've been working on dirtbikes and sportbikes a looong time. Especially this R6... It's the most work I've ever done to any sportbike I've owned...

:cheers
Depending on how mechanically inclined you are it's pretty straight forward....take crap off to get to valve cover.....take off pump.....unscrew plates....replace.....do in reverse.
:cheers I'm not terribly inclined, my dad is great at this shit so I can have him help, but I have just read horror stories that make it take forever cause they forgot something or whatever. I just have to take my time. I do appreciate all the help tho! :hug

Made some more progress tonight... Bolt and washers came in, also re-located the gear indicator to shoot better GoPro videos... Straight to pics!

Then it was onto the gear indicator re-location... Had to use a dremmel to cut the mount I used, but it's moved! I wanted to get better GoPro videos in the future, and have it out of the way. On the tank, even as far forward as I could put it, it was in the way in full tuck...

Realized I was fresh out of zip ties. So I'll have to grab some tomorrow and secure the front end and windscreen. That's really it... She's all set for February 9-10! Last thing I've got to do is install the Woodcraft shark fin. I'll probably knock that out tomorrow after I pick up zip ties for the front end...

:cheers
