Ok so I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread to gauge interest for the Phoenix guys in making the trip out to New Mexico (Arroyo Seco) for the Advanced Riders School. We can use this thread for planning as well. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A SPEED DEMON TO ATTEND THIS CLASS. Per Roger, the track owner, the class is appropriate for anyone with a minimum 6 months of street or dirt bike experience.

**Disclaimer track days are more addictive then Meth, be prepared to sacrifice all belongings and nonmotorcycle relationships once addicted.

I will most likely take the Friday before off and will leave in the early afternoon, usually takes 5-6 hours to get there depending on how you drive and what you are hauling. I can haul my bike, another bike in my truck or I may be able to borrow a 2 bike trailer from a buddy making 3 bikes.

Where to stay? Well as has been noted you can camp at the track or get a hotel. As I said in the other thread we stay at a hotel about 20 minutes away that cost about 50$ a night before taxes (single rate so you can split this with another rider)

What do I need? A good attitude! other then that Arroyo has gear to loan, but you should plan on bringing your own motorcycle boots, gauntlet style gloves, and a DOT/Snell level helmet. A Gopro mounted on the tail of your bike is priceless and will allow you to check your BP. Don't bring tools, I will bring those and what I don't have Roger will.

***You may crash, it happens, if you cant afford to have you bike out of working order for a few weeks (ie its your only form of transport) you may want to explore the idea of a dedicated track bike before you do a weekend.

How much will it cost me? These are approximate numbers:
GAS 100$
HOTEL 75$
FOOD 50$
TRACK FEES 350$ FOR BOTH DAYS-I know this sounds like a lot, it is, it is also waaaay worth it. For reference California Super Bike school is like 600$/day. Also I think that is old pricing and its cheaper now, also I am going to see if Roger will cut a deal for a group rate.
BOOZ :) 1$-300$ The first time I crashed I owed my buddies their bar-bill since I crashed a friends bike, I paid a lot for that mistake lmao.
TOTAL ON THE HIGH END IS 600$ Again sound like a lot, but you have 2 months to save. There are approx. 8/9 weeks until that weekend, that means 4 pay periods, save 150/check and your golden. Again it will probably be less, also depending on how many people attend gas could be cheaper as well.

***You will probably get back to PHX late on Sunday, if you work at 4am Monday morning...lol...well get used to being tired

If you are interested add your name to the list and I will ask Roger for a group rate.

I fell that if we have 5 rider at a minimum we should be good.

Should have named the thread Southwest Race School Feb 9-10 or something... So other people from the area down here would see the thread... Just to get numbers up for this school... I'm going to see if I can get my one local rider bud to go... This would be awesome to get a bunch of R6's from the forum out there!

For now, we wait... :laugh

I really want to attend this. I have an Expedition EL 8 passenger with a 4x8 open trailer or a flatbed car hauler to use if we carpool. I can't afford to drive out there by myself in my SUV. So those of you that want to go and don't have a truck quote my reply.

My bike is in need of new tires soon, my gauntlet style gloves are cheapies from 8+ years ago and I don't have racing boots. I just ordered a Gopro 2 for Christmas. Only thing stopping me is not have the loot to make the trip. If the price is at $275, I get gas money for carpooling, and sleep in my truck I'm all good. Let's make it happen!

I've got a spare set of gloves, may have two set's of spare's by then, and possibly a set of spare boots if I can score the Sidi's I want... We'll see how Christmas goes and what money is looking like... Either way, I'll make this event, somehow... Def need a lift out myself... Won't have a trailer, or means to get my ass out there by then... This should be a blast though if I can make it. I've got an easy up, chairs, cooler and all that shit we can all share as well. I usually bring speakers and rent power as well... Jam some tunes in the pits, check our GoPro vids on the laptop overnight over a beer, it's usually a real good time! :fact

Everyone start making plans so we can make this happen...

:cheers

I'm in. Wish I had new tires instead of stock qualifiers but they'll have to do. Id be more than happy to chip in on gas for those driving. What do we have to do to prep for track (safety wire oil valve etc.)?

Good question, as i recall it's oil drain bolt, oil filter, oil fill cap and dip stick. We can plan a garage do if needed to get everyone sorted but safety wiring doesnt take long.

I'm really stoked about you guys getting out there, it'll be a blast :YEA

PS I may have more take-offs by then as well

Great, I'm excited. So the list so far:

1. Tuscani451
2. SlickXR6
3. OR6
4. inv3nt

Thats enough to get the discounted price.:YEA

If yall know anyone else who's interested lmk. QR6 we will most liekly want to use your truck since it can handle more people and gear

Oh so I don't count? Fcuk you'z guyz... :laugh

In addition to that, the SP has a race compound called the SC which is exactly the same profile and all as the SP. So when ur ready to step up to race tires, the transition is flawless... It's the same exact tire, just a stickier race compound... I spent $350 on a set from Chaparrel Motorsports, cheapest I found them. Course I didn't even ask Roger first, which was dumb, because he's a Pirelli vendor... But I'll def get my SC's through him when I'm ready for them...

#31 ·
You def want a set of eti tank sliders ASAP tho! I mentioned that before... That was really all I could see with the couple pics you posted...

#34 ·
Talks of hitting the track REALLY slowed down in here... I'm so ready to get out there already! Such a fcukin blast!

You don't even know bro! You guys are in for a sick ass weekend! I'll bring the grill and everything... We'll grill out, have a couple brews, and rip that shit up! Not necessarily in that order... :laugh

#60 ·
Nice! We should have room if we stagger everything right, only thing I'm not sure about is having enough tie downs points. If need be we can take my truck as well and I'll just cover all my own gas. Or my buddy with his diesel long bed and inclosed trailer could handle 6 bikes. We can figure it out when the time gets closer, but yeah thats a nice set up you got there-will work for sure

#62 ·
You could always go To Home Depot or Lowe's and buy some D-ring anchors, drill The trailer, and install. With those you could fit 6 bikes easy... I've still gotta figure out a ride... But one way or another I'll be there! Really lookin forward To this! :fact

No wives or girlfriends... This is a MAN SHIT weekend!

See you guys Out there soon enough... :jump

:cheers

#67 ·
Shit bro, wait till you see me at The track! I'm a straight nut... In general... But at The track, I get amped up brutha... Then cool Out before I head Out on The track! Get siked mutha fcukas! This shit is right around The corner... Christmas then New Years Will fly by, before we know it, we'll be well into January making preparations for this in early February! :jump

So siked! I'll be off The grid for The next week tho... In bumfcuk nowhere TX with The whole family and no internet... Check you fellas on The flip flop(next Saturday)...

:cheers

lol it's cool man, I checked with him and he said standard antifreeze and/or EI is fine for the class and track days so no need to swap and yall and stick with EI. I actually use it in my stret bike as well:)

#84 ·
Yeah I don't plan on flushing my E.I. before the class either. Glad it's okay. I may do a brake fluid flush on the garage day though. I bought S20's last night. Hope I like them.

I will put my Pures on my stock wheels if anyone needs a little better tire.

#85 ·
Quentin, might need those pures since I'm still on qualifiers!! Or any take offs anybody has...poor man begging :(

You'll have to let me know about the S20s..when I swap it'll likely be between those, pures, or wait for Michelins new line (power 3s?)

I don't have any track gear. I'm 5'10" and overweight at 198lbs. My goal is to be 180 by track day. New Years resolution
Size 10.5 shoe and 34" waist

My Christmas gift was tires. I will start looking at gear after this event so I know what to look for.
