Hello everyone. My name is Steve. I am joining this forum to make sure I get the full experience of my new bike and make sure I am doing everything right. I have a 2005 r6 that i just got for free from my brother. He bought from his friend and only rode it 160 miles before he wanted me to have it. It is black and looks like it is in very good condition. It has 5800 miles on it. I have never owned a motorcycle so I dont know if that is alot or not. It is still at his house, because I have not registered it yet. If anyone has any comments for the newbie, please feel free. I will be bringing it home soon, but have nowhere indoors to put it. Is it safe to leave it outside covered?

Get to a MSF course!!! Best of luck to you and be very careful bro. It's damn frigid out, and the tires on these bikes don't stick so well in these conditions.

Hopefully you have some dirt experience or at least can drive stick shift. Otherwise jumping on that 05 for your first ride ever is gonna be pretty terrifying!

Hey welcome to the site! If you are looking for some local people to help you out check out www.bandofriders.net

Great group of guys in CT who will let you know the ins and outs of bike storage in your area, places to go sign up for MSF, local dealerships with good gear selection, and of course you have already found the best place for R6 info....here.
