I wanna grab em...levers and grips

Looking for a nice pair of grips and black levers but don't really know whats good out there since this is my first bike... I like flash but I value class... what do you like or suggest?

Flash. Driven d3 grips. Or pro grips have nice ones. Had pro grips and now I have the d3s. Love em both

I'll run anything EXCEPT Driven D3 grips... I've got renthals that I've been rolling with for two seasons, and they've got no signs of wear. After 15 track days and 3 crashes. :laugh


Levers.... Whichever is cheapest. I'd still have stockers if I hadn't have gotten a set of shorties for free. :fact

Shermoto levers are great for low speed crashes on the street. Havent done any high speed tests yet...

If you're going for "flash" then why not just get some chrome grips, then spray 'em with PAM so they're extra shiny? That way you get maximum "flash" and you get the same amount of actual GRIP as the D3s! :YEA


...and I personally think you've only had them on for a month or two, and at this point even if you DIDN'T like them you've put up such a stink defending them that you'll probably never publicly admit that they suck (even after you find out that they suck first hand).

Might help that you hang onto your grips when you go down. :laugh

I seem to be the only one who has had a good experience with d3s. Mine slid right on with the hairspray

Also I think psr has a similar grip to the d3s

The rings on them spin unless you grip glue them or unless you press them on so they don't stretch. I rode em for ages bro, and they looked pimp as shit man. Felt great too. I loved em till the ring started spinning on my downshifts at 150 MPH. **** up that rev match on a triple downshift and then tell me if you want that ring on there still.

The white ones with white edition pazzos was to die for though. I will admit that.

..and bad vibes. it's like when you're sittin on the can for too long and you lose feeling in your feet...pins and needles!!

seems like everyone's running shermotos, which makes me kind of jealous.. but i've got ASV C5s on the clutch side and F3s on the brake side (long story.. it wasn't intentional). works fine so far!

Currently running Renthal kevlar dual compound grips. They are damn ugly looking until it grows on you :laugh, and you can't beat them. Best damn grips ever.

Currently running stock powder coated levers. Upgrading to Shermoto levers soon :fact

EDIT: Friend's bike had Driven D3's on his Ducati 750IE when he bought it. I rode it home (2 hour ride) for him when he bought it, he only had a permit. Long story short..my hands felt like they went through a meat grinder, and I was trying to hold onto rotating icicles.

I absolutely love the shermoto levers :D they're the shit and a half.

The Renthal dual compound Kevlars are the way to go for grips, ugly as fcuk but they work awesome. I ran em on my CRF250r for years of racing and I run on my r6. wouldn't run anything else.

I dunno about you guys, but when I pull up to a bike night, the first thing the homies notice is my grips. All the ladies get wet over my color-matched grips too. Bitches love chrome and color-matched grips. Fck, I've even got a color-matched steering-wheel cover for my car, and I've been pulling in ass every day of the week with it. :fact

I use the stocker levers and see no issues with them. I have ridden bikes with other levers on them and see nothing that makes me have to have anything expensive?

As for grips I have ran just about every major brand. Recently I have been running the D3's, but am not a fan. I have done all of half a dozen track days and have worn through them. This is the second set with the same results. I like how thick they are but there is no real benefit beyond that. I have a set of used hard compound Renthals that I have had for a couple years. They still look new after 12 plus track days. They grip well, fit great and look good.

Also here is a trick for installing grips without using glue.

1. Remove old grip and clean bar really well with brake clean.

2. Spray inside of new grip with brake clean. Be sure of full coverage of brake clean.

3. Very quickly slide the grip onto the bar and align it as desired. Work the grip into place and massage the excess brake clean out.

After several minutes the brake clean will evaporate and the grip will lock into place. It will not budge. If it does get loose you can carefully ( using a nozzle tube ) spray more brake clean between the grip and the bar to lock it back down. I have been doing this for years and it works great. Never had a grip make a run on me. Removal of the grip is the same. Spray brake clean under the grip and work it off the bar.

I like the longer stock length levers, but I am also a 4 finger braking and clutch kinda guy. The 3/4 length I hear is comfy for the 4 finger guy, but I don't see anything wrong with the stock levers.

I think it's cooler to have a stock lever than a trick one anyway. My stockers are black and now have a nice shiny polished aluminum spot where I have worn the powder coating away. I have had them for 4 years and they are still holding strong!!!!!
