Just starting attempting wheelies on my bone stock 07'. A few days ago I started clutching 1st gear sit-downs but they felt way too jerky and unpredictable. I've raced motocross my whole life and could wheelie dirtbikes and quads all day.. Clutching, bouncing whatever. However, streetbikes seem (not surprisingly) like a whole different world. I have tried bouncing stand-ups in 1st which is starting to feel most comfortable to me. 1st gear still seems pretty jerky and unpredictable, I try to roll to 8-9k and then bounce while giving it a handful of throttle. To be honest I'm a little afraid of looping with when it really gets into the meat of the powerband at 12k+, and yes I try to make sure to cover the rear brake. Today I was playing around with bouncing second gear stand-ups. From the research I've done, it seems most people say to bring it up to around 10k, bounce and then crack the throttle all in one well timed motion. I tried this with very little success. I would either barely get the front end off the ground or end up jerking on the bars (out of old habit from my mx days) and it would come up a foot or so really wobbly from yanking on the bars so hard. Also, I'll be honest, it does feel a little nerveracking trying to get up on one at 50-60 mph lol . 2nd seems like the way to go so far, for me anyway. I just want to know what the hell I'm doing wrong.. Maybe leaning to far forward? (I'm over the tank with my helmet almost even to the wind screen) Maybe I'm not bouncing all of my weight down on the the pegs as hard as I should? Do I really have to keep on the throttle once it picks up so the front end gradually rises higher? Thanks
