Changing plugs on 2001
Just changed the plugs on my 2001, this may help / maybe not. First off there is no need to remove the radiator as described in the Haynes manual.
Take off seat
Remove fuel tank - remember to turn fuel tap to OFF position.
Remove air filter box / housing
Remove heat shield - a lot of pulling and twisting
Remove black panels (under handlebars) and move air ducting out of the way. Don't know if this is essential I just found it easier as made more space.
Remove ignition coils - twist first then pull, do these one by one.
Remove plugs - 16mm deep socket.
Insert new plugs - don't force them when screwing back in as may cross thread and you`ll be in a whole world of crap.
Then put it all back together again and take it for a spin.
Note - remember to turn the fuel tap back on. I didn't. Got about 1/2 mile down the road and came to a very silent halt. I take the dumbass award. I thank you. Anyway you live and learn as they saying goes.
Hopes this helps anyone who has thought about doing it and taken it to the dealers in the end.
