Will do Ricky! I'll put them on today, take pics along the way, and give a full review.
Here's a few pics of the issues I'm having... Any tricks/tips are appreciated! I'll be sanding everything down, re-priming everything, and starting from scratch... Any recomendations for prepping and painting appreciated!
You sanded the primer down too smooth and the paint isn't adhering. How long did you leave that tape on for? Why aren't you using the blue vinyl tape for the cut off and then paper or plastic to fill large areas instead of tape?
You need to sand the orange with 400 grit to scuff it all and go over it again. They also sell paint adhesion promotor in aerosol cans you could try I guess.
Everytime this has happened to me, the tape was left on a long time, or the primer was sanded too thin or too smooth. Heat gun the tape before and as you pull it off will help a lot

Yea, start over..
Seriously, use the orange as that much more primer/base coat. This has happened to me a LOT of times. Now I know better and sand the primer with 400 or 600 just enough to scuff for good adhesion.

Yeah that's what my plan was... to wet sand the orange with a 600 grit sandpaper and respray the orange and go from there... I'll prob spray the orange and let it cure fully out in the sun after they dry in the booth. This TX sun should really help them cure... Pretty intense for sure!
Thanks Anthony!
Ready to be done with this and booking track days! One of the trackday orgs take a break in the peak of summer in my area... and I'm fcukin bummed. Makes sense... But I'll be wrapping up this build and won't be able to book till like August I think... Fcuk it... I'll be booking all the days... Looked and I can hit the track through December after the peak of the summer heat!
I would dry sand it. I've wet sanded the edges of where it pulled up like this and sprayed on top of that fine on John's bike. I would hit that bish with dry 600 lightly so it gets pale looking then wipe it, tack it, and spray it over again. Flash time is flash time. The sun will help, but if the ventilation and temp is correct, the paint will flash within 10-15 minutes or whatever it's supposed to. On rainy days I don't paint. If I do, I run the heat and dehumidifier at the same time.
You're gonna get contamination putting it in the sun when wet. Or touch it and smudge it, etc. Make sure you have good intake and exhaust ventilation. Upping my fan size made a world of difference in my booth.

Yeah I've got two fans in place... In and out... Keep some air moving through those air filters... I'll do just that... A light, 600 grit sanding, clean, tack and spray it... Hoping for the best! I'll be using as little tape as possible when taping off for the black... If I get paint peeling up at all... I'm just going to touch it up in those spots and go ahead and clear. Ultimately, they're track fairings... I want them to look great, but in reality they may be wrecked at some point... So not going to put my soul into it... I'll use a heat gun and get the tape off as quickly as possible after spraying my basecoats!
Thanks brutha!
I'll get them all prepped today, and start painting everything tomorrow... Get all the orange sprayed and let them sit overnight, then tape and paint the black... Then... Clear baby!
