Pass... I think $77 for the proper tool is a small price to pay. You will need it more than once anyway. The shop manual recommends carb sync every 4000 miles on these 1st gen's. I religiously remove and clean my carbs every 2-3 months, and since I'm in there I make sure they're sync'ed too. My bike runs great, and is never hard to start.

I have the old school mercury gauges, had them for years. Think I'm going to upgrade to the Motion Pro though.

Re: Quick question

Yeah it starts much easier now.

I'm aware of the ticking noise, been reading about it all week. What concerns me is the vibration that I'm getting too.

I shouldve prob used a proper tool for syncing although I can confidently say that the carbs are way more balanced than what they were before the diy sync since its revving up and dropping much cleaner and the increase in power is noticeable. I'm also sure that I must have done something wrong since this noise started immediatley after I syncd the carbs.

Is there some way I can check the cct to see if its the culprit?

Thank u for the input guys, I appreciate this

No real way to check it that I know of. I replaced mine with an A.P.E. as soon as I got my bike. The noise was terrible until I did!
