Oh, well in that case sure. I'm with you on that one.

Mine is wrapped! Don't wrap the very front header parts, like where it comes out of the engine down to the first bend!!

Probably a very dumb question, but I think I remember reading something about this, but why not wrap the headers?

Single wall headers (our headers), rely on outside air for cooling (even when the bike isn't moving). Wrapping them with header wrap will cause "blow holes" (pin hole exhaust leaks) from the extreme temperature the headers will reach, both from lack of air flow under hard load/high RPM's as well as the insulation/heat reflection from the wrap itself.

if it made more power, pro race teams would do it.. they don't.
if you are protecting something from heat/burning, then wrap the area that you are trying to keep the heat from. I use stick-on reflective heat sheets on the inside of my belly pans to keep the header off the fiberglass in a couple spots.

The instructions on my akrapovic exhaust specifically stated NOT TO USE any type of wrap as it may cause corrosion and moisture build up. Also stated that it helps keep heat in instead of the pipes cooling properly which will lead to premature failure.

Again, that's what the instructions said. Meh.

How's the heat reduction, you ride in shorts?
