The part that connects to a gear at the top has a 10mm bolt. Take that bolt out, slide the ring off the gear, and put it somewhere like your peg or something. When your done Just slip it back on, but dont force it. It will slide on. Then mount the bike and feel the position if you dont like it, slide it back off, and adjust it. I usually adjust it twice before its in the same spot it was before.

I would suggest installing a Stahlbus oil drain valve when you change your oil. Itll keep you from stripping the threads in the oil pan and makes oil changes less messy.. no oil on the headers.. I got mine from Justin at AggRacing.com. He's another one of our awesome forum vendors

Ya about you getting the R-6. I read the first few pages then jumped to the end. Good choice you will not be unhappy. I love mine.
Working on getting it back on the road after getting hit by a suburban a year ago today. Need a wiring harness, head light then I am getting fiberglass racing panels. Then going up 2 teeth in the back and a power commander for now.

Great thread. I'm Canadian and up here finding a mint CBR 600rr graffiti is almost impossible. That was my first choice. I ended up getting the same bike as you, 2009 R6 raven w/gold rims. It's my first 600 and I absolutely love the thing. I'd like more info. on what you think about the R6 as compared to the 600rr.

I misspoke (actually mis-typed); 36 is correct; which is what I thought I posted
The 42 in the rear will ride too hard so I don't go those swing-arm recommendations. First, let me ask what type of riding are you doing? If your PSI's are working for you, go by it. My point was simply not to under inflate too much from the recommendations, other than on the track (my experience with Q2's).
On the track I've done anywhere from 31-30 or 30-29-30, but I'm not fast enough to be sliding the tire around.
On the street its a simple 35-35, depending on riding.

I did the following this weekend:
-Changed the oil to Amsoil 10W40 and K&N filter
-Hotbodies flushmounts
-New Pilot Power front and rear
-Complete suspension setup (with me on bike) preload-sag-damping
-Chain adjustment and lube
Got this integrated LED pulsing tail light on order, should do the install tomorrow. I couldn't be happier with this bike. Gotta love riding year-round here in Arizona. Was in the 80's today and it's November.

I've owned both a 2007 cbr 600 rr and a 2008 r6. I've tracked both bikes.
My impressions is that the cbr is easier to ride. The engine on the cbr is fantastic, with a very smooth power band and delivery. The bike is a little bit smaller than the r6 and has a better turn in. As far as ergonomics go, I was a little bit cramped on the cbr, even with adjustable rearsets. I am about 6'1 180 lbs.
The r6 is a bike when ridden fast, feels amazing. Once you get the r6 in the sweet spot, it really cuts through turns like butter. I really feels planted mid corner with a lot of front tire feel and input. I also really liked the top end on the r6. I felt it had really good drive out of corners, which allowed me to slingshot past a lot of riders. I also had lower gearing too, which I feel helps make up the lack of midrange.
Either way, you really can't go wrong with either bikes. They are both very competitive and fun bikes to ride.

What's the installation process for the valve kit or you just screw it in?
