Yeah, which is why I was going to shell out the $1400 in the first place. Because it's warrantied for 3 years. That what my whole intention... Not to spend a few hundred each time for a used one that may or may not fail and need replacing anyways... Because that few hundred would add up after a couple, were they to fail... Now you see my predicament...
Not to mention the countless installs. If you are just looking for a few more years then I would probably just go with warranty.
Send that bish down the road and get something you can (kinda) depend on, Adam.

Though, I've had friends slap on entire used transmissions units with good luck, something I'd personally not try but it worked for them.

Now I'm even more lost... Everyone is saying something different... Which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on anything yet... Still weighing my options...
As I see it, my only two reasonable options are as follows...
1. Sell it as is right now and get what I can for it, then buy something off craigs for a few grand...
or
2. Buy a warrantied TC for $1400 so at least I know it's covered, and keep it...
Now, with these being your only two options, what would you all choose. Hypothertically...

I can do a TC swap easy. It'd take about two hours... That's not the issue, having a vehicle that will last is my concern... I don't want to be driving around in a money pit... Whether it be this Jeep, or some other beater I bought off Craigs... That's what I'm un-easy about. Buying someone else's busted ride, and having something that fails me...

Option 3, which is a variant of option 1... Sell that money pit and buy something else off craigslist that ISN'T a total hunk of shit (but isn't necessarily new) that will last you another 10 years or so. Maybe something ~4-5 years old should be reasonable, and the depreciation will have hit it hard already, so there you go.
I had an old 1990 Nissan Maxima 5 speed that my uncle gave me senior year of high school with over 200,000 miles on it and still running strong. It never gave me any problems and i would probably still have it till this day if I hadn't wrecked it back in 2008.
Adam, I'm with Steve, sell that jeep and get something reliable, but cheap at the same time if you can
