well said Steph, i wasnt born in this country, but my family came here seeking freedom from persecution, we sought this country because the people WERE united, people cared more, it was less me me me, and more can i help you? America is all of us, its true, regardless how different you are from your neighbor, because in the end, an American is a melting pot of cultures, so lets take advantage of all the different cultures and make this nation better.

The downward spiral will continue, a generation can only hope to be as good as the one that proceeded it. The current generation will only distil their behavior to their children and so on. Success and hard work is punished in this country, while failure and idiocy is rewarded. Some will strive to be better people, but majority rules, and I don't think America will ever recover.
The question is ... how in the hell do we get it done?
The action item that I keep finding myself embracing more and more is to vote for 3rd party candidates.
What I really want is to get the ridiculous amount of influence a small amount of people have on our political system (ie, campaign financing via Koch bros, and whoever is giving Obama his mega-bucks), so that politicians are more interested in serving their constituents instead of a hand full of mega-rich campaign contributors who are looking to get mega-mega-rich. I am honestly not sure how we're ever going to do that with the current system.

Ben Franklin's son was a staunch loyalist. after the war atarted the two never talked again. Franklin the junior was totally shunned by the ole man and left the hell out of the will. which beceause of savvy bizz skills and long life ole Ben was like the Donald of his day. politics are a hard subject. but each generation calls its own shots.
Why? That's part of the issue at hand, because its easier to supress your true feelings about how things are going, than stand up and say LOOK THIS SITUATION IS TOTALLY FCUKED UP AND NEEDS TO CHANGE.
Giving up and going along with the rest of the sheep is easy, change is hard, it involves hard work, dedication, failing, getting back up dusting yourself off
The minute letting fear of other peoples reactions cause you to change what you say or do, they win.
