In the mean time, try this... Chop down the stock can to the bracket that holds it in place on the foot peg, and paint it matte black with some Very High Temp paint (and the proper prep work).... Costs almost nothing and looks MUCH better.

welcome!

Buy my comp werkes can. It's not the prettiest but it's f'ing loud brah.

I think your gear is fine. At least you have/wear gear. I lot ride and some of the guys refuse to wear gear. O well, got the camera ready when you crash.

Snell rating doesn't mean I'd wear it and feel safe... A textile jacket is better than nothing, but definitely nothing to write home about. I've seen road rash that was actually WORSE because of the textile jacket. The jacket had melted onto the person's skin while they were sliding. Leather > the rest of the shit.

As for the "chuck taylor type shoes"... Those are completely worthless. If you don't wanna get riding boots that's your choice, but I'd hate to have you buzzing around with those worthless things on your feet thinking they're doing you any good.

I'll just leave this here:

Curious as to why? Doesn't Snell meet DOT standards?

I have heard that Snell and ECE exceed DOT standards. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is true? My search button is broke at the moment

There's a difference between meeting standards (AKA: minimums) and exceeding them. Personally, I'm not going to trust my brain's well being to a cheap helmet I picked up for $100 brand new because it had sweet graphics and a SNELL rating. I'll pay for quality because I would like to continue to survive as long as possible.
