My 03 R6 Build

Looks good!

I wanted to try and plastidip some of my bike but I hear it's a pain in the ass to work with. I have a few cans just sitting here, I should try my hand with it.

I'm actually about to paint my R6 with plastidip, after I saw how great it looked on this thread. I sprayed a metal tray i had with it to see how well it adhered and looked, and it looks awesome! It wasn't that hard to use really, I'm just curious how well it will hold up against scratches and stuff. We shall see....

Yes its very easy to use. I have to put another coat on one fairing and then do the tank. Then finding all the random bolts. Been out of town for a week so Ill try to start back on it tomorrow.

O and im planning got have less than 2g in it including gear (helmet, jacket, gloves)

Well I got the front almost completely mounted and I laid the sides on just to see what it will look like. She is coming along nicely. There are a few places the im going to have to hit with another coat of dip. but for now its all one color....well two.

I've been considering a matt black look on my bike for a while now. Looks good. How well does the plastidip paint set? How much sanding involved etc? 2-3 coats enough?

google plastidip.

There is no sanding involved. It's a rubberized spray paint, also comes in...yup, you guessed it: dip form.

It's used to re-dip pliers, hammers, etc. with a rubber coating to provide both comfort and grip so you can use the tools more safely and comfortably.

If you spray it well, it looks good for a bit, but after a while it will begin to look somewhat bad. I got drunk one night and dipped my car. Looked great when I did it...it even looked amazing the next day after the sobering; now, however, not so much.
