Rode a buddies YFZ 450 a couple weeks back... Sick as shit!
Def picking up a MX 250, or another 450 quad here soon! They're a dime a dozen out here so I'll pick something up for a steal!
Ya I thought about gettin one of the newer style YFZs (09+) but decided just to go with the Honda. I had an LTR450 before this one and it was really nice but had some weird quirks (electrical/efi related) plus they are known for tranny issues. I found out later one the dude that had mine did end up with tranny troubles with it.
As far as the 250fs, I mainly went with the Yamaha for reliability. Also, the bike is pretty good at everything, right out of the box. I almost got a Kawi because of the killer motor but I couldn't deal with their tendency to push in turns.
I want to pick up a YZ125 sometime next year. The first motorcycle I rode was a CR250 back when I was in 6th grade. I never got to do any trail riding back then, but I definitely want to now. I think it would help with my track riding too. It seems like a LOT of MotoGP riders ride dirtbikes in the off-season to stay fit.
Rocky, I had a YZ125 I bought new in 06, just sold it last summer. I miss it. They are a ton of fun but I couldn't afford to keep that and still have a quad and R6. 125s def hone your skills, but at the same time, I kinda hated bouncing back and forth between it and a 250f.
My first dirt bike! I know my 4 years of street riding doesn't mean jack sh!t off the pavement. I'll be taking it easy breezy while I gain off road experience.
