I have an Ultra Lap. I was thinking of making a mount to the left of the instrument cluster for the display and fabricating a longer cable to run the IR send/receive unit on the tail.

You have no need to be looking at your lap times while on the track. Bells and whistles like gear indicators and all that are pointless IMO... How often are you looking down at the guage cluster? I don't ever look down, I'm focused on the track, and the next turn... That is just my opinion, if you're trying to turn over good lap times, 100% of your focus should be on the track, not looking down trying to see what your last lap tap was...

Fact.

I actually like to tape my gauges... MPH doesnt matter... puts way more emphasis on the "feel" of the bike/track.

Good points.. I havent been paying much attention to the guages. I think the best option is double tape the send/recieve unit to the tail and just toss the display under the seat! I think I just got excited to make a mount for it!

Little update:

The bike is currently getting some TLC. The list includes:

Fork seals, oil, valving, and respring
Rear shock revalve
Spark Plugs
Valve check
Picked up some UK N-Tecs 211's
EXUP removed
Charcoal canister about to be removed
Air filter

Went to Buttonwillow on Labor day and had a good time even though I left early. Interesting track... I think I will need to go a few more times to appreciate it. The re-pave of the bumpy part will definitely make me consider going back.

Last Monday evening I decided to do Laguna on Tuesday since a few locals were selling their track passes for cheap due to the possible rain. The first session was super wet then it was pretty much dry after the second session. All I have to say about Laguna is that it is AMAZING! Totally dig that place except for the sound restrictions. I tripped the sound meter at 94.4db with a limit of 92db so I had to short shift past the sound booth during the last 4 sessions. Met up some good people and had a great day being "sick". Managed to get down to 1:52.

Cant wait to get it all back together and try out the new suspension!

More progress.

Picked up some new plugs from the dealer this morning and installed them.

Prepared for the AGG smog block off plates as well by removing the air pump and hoses.

The front side of the engine was pretty grimy so it got a bath. Just need to install the smog plates and then the radiator unit goes back on.

Forks should be coming back from the suspension shop today and the rear shock on tuesday!

Got my AGG block offs installed along with my new gas cap and keyless ignition switch with a carbon plate I made. Installed the radiator unit and filled it back up with water wetter blend and got everything hooked back up. Hoping to go to Thunderhill on the weekend of Thanksgiving.

Suspension got delayed due to shipping.... good news is it will be done tomorrow!
