I'm new at riding motorcycles and i've never driven a stick shift car and my question is, What is the optimal shift points when riding a stock R6?
I understand its varies on bike and mods but as for a stock bike when should I be shifting to 2nd, 3rd etc..? RPM?
For
Street riding?
and how about for Racing (Track)? (I don't condone street racing)
I just want to know more about my bike and its potential.
(Track day in a few months)
Thanks
i generally shift between 15k - 16.5k rpm. i don't ride my bike on the street anymore.
nothing about the r6 is good for street riding. it's awkward, twitchy, uncomfortable and impractical on the street. all of this goes away when you're on a track, however.
if you have a track day scheduled, you'll see soon enough. track riding will take ALL the fun out of street riding...

Just shift when the bike stops pulling, you'll be able to feel it.
I generally always keep it above 4k and from there just shift before 17k. Lol
