Awww come on 48 isn't that cold... you do have to dress for it though otherwise you will get cold. Either lots of layers or get some heated stuff. Some heated grips at least will work wonders, but a heated jacket liner will get you spoiled in no time, lol
I'm not gonna lie this was pretty cold.... 350 mile ride from central Illinois to Columbus, OH Dec 2008. This was the highest temp I saw the whole day... it was 15 when I got to Columbus. Didn't have my heated jacket at the time either just lots and lots of layers... heated grips were a lifesaver though. Only thing that really kept getting cold was my feet
And who needs dry roads anyways... blah!
Seriously though, invest in some heated gear, once you ride in it you'll never go back. Riding in the colder temps becomes not so bad after all! Oh and get a PinLok visor for your helmet too to keep the shield fog free
