I've been lucky enough to avoid every deer that has jumped in front of me, but man I swear they strike a level of fear in me on the road I only felt wondering around Skid row in LA or being on the wrong side of town in a blue shirt.

I hit a deer a couple years ago at 60mph. Bike didn't go down (believe it or not) but I never rode with the same confidence at night in residential areas. Scary shit because its so uncontrollable and random.
Location: 1½ hours from Brainerd International Raceway. MN
Bike: Girlfriend says too many!
Re: Hit a deer...
In 32 years of riding, with a fair amount of night riding, I've been fortunate to have avoided a deer collision. I have several friends who have not been so lucky.
This time of the year is especially bad, being that the rut is on, and horny deer are running around looking for some luvin'.
Get well soon.

Thanks for the support everyone. Having something taken from you and having your way of life change from something you had no control over is a terrible feeling. It really bothers me that I can't say I won't let it happen again. It seems like it would be easier if I had messed up and could tell myself I would make sure to never let that happen again.
