Smx - 5 boot

for those of you with the AStar Smx-5 boot, are these quite comfortable to ride around in for street?

any pros or cons for normal street, backroad type of riding? no track days intended.

good for spring summer fall? or is it too much "boot" for just street riding.

Thanks!

Re: Smx - 5 boot

I don't think there is such thing as too muh boot for street riding.

I believe mine are the smx-5. I have has them since I started riding about 5 1/2 years ago. They were a bit squeaky at first when walking around but that eventually stopped. I use them for street and track. I don't think I have ever ridden without them. I think they are really comfortable.

Re: Smx - 5 boot

The SMX-5's offer the least amount of protection in the A* line up so I definitely wouldn't say they are "too much boot". They would be a lot better than wearing shoes.

It's a good boot but I find i should've bought the smx2s because i prefer the shorty boot style. Easier for my jeans/riding pants to go over.

Wise words from HER6.

But I'm too much of a SIDI fan boy to comment on A* boots. My narrow mind says buy the best SIDIs you can afford.

Don't buy skinny jeans

OP, You can never be too safe on the streets... that is usually where the most danger is.

Re: Smx - 5 boot

I've had the vented version for a full year now. Worn 4 or 5 days a week, pretty much every week, even through last winter. Very comfy and no signs of wear. Never been down so I can't comment on their protection vs a Sidi, but they're solid.

Re: Smx - 5 boot

The SMX-5's (vented) are the only thing i ride with....all street riding (for now). Very comfortable, even if you have to walk around for a while. Would definitely recommend them to somebody looking for boots.

have ridden in 100+ heat to ~27 degrees and the do pretty well in all temp ranges...

Short boots are shit. This is not good advice.

Seriously.

I've never even had issues with ''slim'' pants, fitting over boots on the street. You've got to be wearing your sisters pants for them not to fit.
