I love my Trijicon. 4x32 ACOG has just enough magnification for me to easily acquire prairie dogs out past 400-500 yards, while still being able to pick off shit at sub 20 yards without it being a pain due to over-magnification. The whole point of the optic is to behave like a red-dot close in. They're worth the cost, IMO.

Also, whatever you buy, go through LaRue Tactical. Their mounts are BY FAR the best I have ever used, and their prices on optics are some of the best out there that I have seen.

Yeah, optics are further down the line for me since they're pretty pricey I was looking at the Aimpoint Micro H-1 and saw this but this isn't everything I need right? I need another mount or something, I think.

Also I was thinking of picking up a Magpul butt stock since it's lighter and my Vltor is kind of bulky.

Negative. That comes with the QD mount...you're good-to-go.
