I use to race a motard and the yz is the least competitive motor out of all the 450s.

Supposedly it actually keeps up with sv650's at HPR and other full road courses. Fantastic corner speed.

Yeah that looks fun too! Either would be a great project. I'm just really in to the idea of one of these smaller lighter bikes just to go have fun on. Maintenance might be a bit h but if its not your primary bike no problemo

This conversion looks to be on an 06-09 YZf, as the 2010+ would likely be a huge challenge to do, with the backwards motor and flip-flopped intake/tank etc. Anyhow, even the 06-09 YZf motors are the most reliable (as are the 2010+), so not sure what you are referring to. And the Suzuki 05-07 motor was easily the softest motor out there, not to mention it's 4spd gearbox.

That being said, no reason an 06+ YZf couldn't be competative in SM or in a conversion like that, in my opinion.
