99.9% of people that say they have "outgrown" a 600 are morons.
haha seriously. Unless their last name is Rossi or Stoner someone who claims they "outgrew" their 600cc supersport is most definitely talking out of their ass. There are plenty of valid reasons to get an R1 but worrying about outgrowing your R6 isn't one of them.
For me cost of ownership, weight, and more power than I could ever use on the road was more than enough. Not to mention the fact that I didn't want to get myself killed
Tires. I see all my friends with Liter bikes eating up rear tires in half the time my 600 does. And if you wanna ride a liter bike like you wanna ride the R6, DOT's are a must IMO. I can't have lack of grip with that power. It's REAL sick coming out of turns, running to the apron (I mean white line) and realizing your over 120 on your exit!
I would have been doing wheelies non stop, all day every day also. I am a wheelie fiend. It's my favorite to have the front up in the air on anything motorized. So the liter bike keeps me on two unless I really NEED to be up on one.

I wish the back end of that bike was better. The swingarm angle sucks and the shock is pitiful on it. Other than that, no beef with it other than it's not THAT fast until you get passed 120+

I have both.....like the R1s power but it is too much for me.....the R6 is abit more fun....would not get rid of either....however I ride my WR250X way more than the R1 or R6
The majority of the people who say that to you either don't ride, haven't ridden a 600, or are dense. Just saying.
I was one of those guys...sadly, I personally thought if I was going to buy a bike to "go big or go home" and get a R1/1000cc bike period. Made the wrong choice though and started on my R6 (starting on 600 frowned upon I know), but haven't had any trouble, kept the mindset to take it slow and not be stupid on it until I felt comfortable, as a result haven't layed it down and just took learning slow, lucky I know...
But on the subject, nobody needs an R1 for street use, R6 has plenty of power and quickness, only thing it doesn't have on an R1 is top end, not really essential in my opinion unless you're a real speed freak
