Track-Only R6 and Z1000 daily drive

Saw a nice 2005 Kawy Z1000 on my local motorcycle listing and I am seriously thinking of buying it and change my R6 into a track-only bike

Any inputs? Someone rode these Z1000 before or currently have one? It looks awesome!

The earlier Z1000's were a bored-out ZX9R motor if I recall correctly.

I can't speak for the previous gen, but I had a 2010 Kawasaki Z1000 (That had the new 1043cc engine, a variant of the new ZX10R) and it was so comfortable, a very hot looking, great sounding bike, and the power band was smooth like butter. I'd go asking on the KawiForums, though, it seems the Z1000 is not a very popular bike. I think a few people on there are active that have them still. I will say though, it will definitely be a lot more comfortable commuting on the Z1K rather than the R6.

I know a few people who have/had them. They all had really good things to say. For a street bike it's alot of fun. Wind protection is not very good, but that is to be expected with a semi-faired bike.

I rode for a full day in the twisties with a guy who had one. That thing wouldn't keep the tire down for shit! I don't like the exhaust on each side of it, but WTFE, it looks cozy AND fast! Sign me up!

What do you mean wouldn't keep the tire down? The suspension is not good?

BTW, I don't know if it's fast or not and that doesn't bother me, I would have bought a R1 instead of a 6 if speed had been my priority.

I just want a semi-sport bike to pay less insurance/plates and be more confortable for commuting and Ducati is a bit expensive for me...
