Yes. The newer ones go 0-10 and the older ones go -5 to +5 with -5 being off and +5 being max intervention. I have an older one like you and leave it pretty high, I think at +3.
I treat it as a safety backup because on a bike if you run race tires you need to be really damn fast to get to the point where you need TC to control wheelspin. I ride in the advanced group and feel that I'm not fast enough for that. My plan is that if I get to the point where I feel it kicking in, and it's hurting my drive out of turns, then I will lower it. But until then I like it high in case it prevents a highside if I get too aggressive. I really don't worry about it too much. I may have only had it kick in one time, but I'm not even sure about that.
That's how I did it when I tracked my car. It would kick in a lot so I put it in the sport mode, and when it still kicked in but I felt comfortable with the sliding, then I would turn it off.
