All solid points. In peoples defence, you can't get a new jap 2t other than a Yamaha, and it hasn't changed since 06. So if you want a new mx bike you really don't have much of a choice than to get a 4t. Unless you want a ktm but Thats another story.
It's easier to ride a 4t faster, you have to work to go as fast on a 2t
sent from my Nokia...wait wat?

I say screw the big hap brands.....I won't ever give a dime to those assholes that isn't pried from my hands....if I can avoid buying oem parts for my bikes I will at all costs just because they want to dictate what I ride by attempting to remove the two stroke from the market....I think two strokes r superior in every way but the point isn't that we should all ride two strokes but that we shouldn't be limited in our choice....if ppl will stop supporting the companies that want to tell u what to ride then we might as the consumer regain some control over the market (the way it should be ppl) the way things r right now if ur gonna ride ur gonna ride what Mr Honda and Mr yamaha want u to ride because they control the rulemaking in the ama and fim and with that power they control what is on the podium....wich controls r&d money at companies that don't necessarily hold the same beliefs but still have to compete to sell bikes....imagine what it would be like in motocross if 250cc two strokes were allowed to compete with 250 4 strokes on a pro level....look up some old school decoster or Travis pistrana footage....motocross used to be fun to watch cuz it was insanely hard to be that good and that fast....hell for that matter go look up some vid of the nsr500 Honda....two stroke moto gp....valetino rossi is the last living champ to win on the hardest most unforgiving and most powerful gp bike ever to grace the tarmac.....the nsr500 made the equivalent of 400 rwhp per litre and now its gone cuz the CEO of Honda hates 2 strokes....said it himself publicly

I'm looking to get into dirt, had 4 seasons on the R6 now and hate being off two wheels all winter. Looking to stay Yamaha or go Suzuki perhaps. I'm 6'1, 240lbs, with four years or street experience. I've been scoping either the YZ250F, or RM250. Will the 250 haul my big ass around and be fun? Or should I look to the 450? I assume its like the R6/R1 difference. Any input?

Looking to buy something newer or older, prefer 2 stroke or 4, and what kinda places you got to ride at?
The rm250 is a lot faster than a yz250f.

Something probably 06+, 4 stroke, and mostly play/trail riding. I'm usually brand loyal, but I'm thinking maybe a move. Maybe even Honda, heard nothing but good shit about them. I just don't know a lot about dirt bikes. Starting the education

Nice. I'd just look for a yz250f or the Honda. 4 stroke doesn't like tight slow trails tho.

Am I semi-correct with the 250f-450f correlation to 600s-1000s? I assume as a novice rider the 450 would probably hand me my ass. I just want something I can climb on and a have a frigging blast. I just need to get familiar with service intervals and top ends and all that.
