sponsored by contour, and i believe they are the best camera for these types of applications.
- they look a million times better than the go pro's.
- have bluetooth so that you can link it to your phone (ios or android) and use your phone screen for both life view finder, and adjusting settings.
- the on/off/record switch is superior, you are never left wondering if it is doing what you want it to be doing.
- some argue that go pro's take better video, and i believe that this may marginally be the case. Even still, my video on the contour turns out better than my friend's go pro's because i was able to adjust my settings live on my phone with the viewfinder, and so my camera is set properly to the specific conditions at that moment (i.e. Lighting).
- has internal gps, with one click of the mouse, you can pull up a map on the side of your video that shows exactly where you were on a map in sync with the video. Great for track days...displays both speed and elevation.

Recording at 1080p/60fps/protune is fantastic. The only thing thats not so good on the go pro black is the battery. Lasts me about 1 hours 30 minutes, a bit less with pro tune and wifi on. Got 1 more battery @$19.99, fixed!

Suckers pay retail. I'll wait until someone wants to get rid of their GoPro 3 and maybe scoop it up.. Otherwise, I think the other cameras were still excellent. No need to upgrade for me unless it's STUPID cheap.
For the OP, the remote sounds like a very nice feature. I wonder if it's one remote per GoPro, or if the remote just works for every camera within a certain radius.
^^^^ THIS! I just scored a silver edition for $180 (it's a month old)! It's pretty bad azz to be able to control it with your phone and see what it is recording on the phone's screen. There is a slight lag in the video from the cam to the phone though. GoPro claims you can control it from 600' too.
You set up the camera/s with a wifi password so no one else can screw with it/them. 1 remote can control many cams at the same time as long as they are paired. So if you have multiple cameras on your bike or wherever, you can make all of them record at the same time by pushing 1 record button. Pretty sweet if you ask me.
I might buy the remote down the road just to have it.
