LMAO Yeah I saw you got new gear but wasnt all your stuff new?
I thought about starting a build thread but honestly IDK what else this bike might need lol. I've gotten to know the Triumphs pretty well but this Yamaha will be a learning experience-I will be very lost for a while.
I'm excited for this season too for sure! Having some new toys to try out should be fun. Last season was a little rough so I'm excited for a fresh start. Are you going out for the TD at Arroyo in January?
What I will need is advice about how to ride this thing, the 675 has a much flatter power band with a lot of grunt. It will take time to get used to keeping the RPMs so high

Yeah man, that sounds like a plan! I've been known to crack a brew or two when all the riding for the day is done...
I usually try and get there Friday nights for the track weekends, get set-up and all so I don't have to worry about it in the morning. We'll def be in touch with each other about trackdays and all, I may have very well met you already, I usually need a name with a face. But we'll make some plans and have some fun here in the coming season!
Yeah, I just worry b/c I'm painfully slow on a 600 there so I cant imagine what me on a 250 would look like. It's hard b/c Arroyo and CVR are like night/day different so everything from supension set up to rider skills is different. ASR puts MUCH more emphasis on hard brakeing and driving off corners. CVR seem to be much more about keeping corner speed high.
Yeah, I hear ya. Fontana, my other favorite track is like that. It's all stop & go, with quick corners where you chuck the bike in, and then get on the gas right away. You've got great sight lines, and it's all flat (except getting up on the banking for the straight).
Chuck is all momentum and deception. Elevation changes, camber changes, blind corners, subtly decreasing radius sweepers, etc.

Yeah man, that off camber hill on the back side of CVR is real sketchy to me

Garcia Hill! Luckily it's the slowest part of the track, and it's not a place you try to make time. You ride to just get through it without crashing.
Was out there for Star school with Jason Pridmore, and his philosophy for that corner is to setup a nice shallow line for Turn 8 that let's you brake as late as possible, and use the hill to slow yourself down even more, and then just piddle through the turn at the top of the hill. You make up time by essentially making that back straight as long as possible. Did the two-up ride with him and it was definitely interesting flying past all the braking markers I normally use for that section and then SLAMMING on the brakes on the way up the hill. Good times!
Apparently idk what I'm missing... Def can't wait to get back out on the track! That and make a trip or two to some other tracks! So siked about this season!
Already loaded all the 2013 Arroyo Seco Trackdays and Race Weekends on my phone calender!
Just realized I need a kickstand for the new bike, I'd post in the classified section but I have not been a memeber long enough. Anyone have one for sale?

I am sure SOMEONE has one for sale... They're always floating around. I'm keeping mine on until I'm told it HAS to come off... I'm not running warmers or anything yet, so usually it on the kickstand, or just a rear stand. Course, I'll prob pick up warmers at some point during this next season... In no real rush... I'm sure these SP's will really keep me happy will into the race pace of Amateur...

Yeah I htink I've found one. I use warmers, and the only reason I do is b/c of the mental block. A buddy let me use a set one weekend and now I'm scared not to have the tires on warmers. I'm not a good enough or fast enough rider to say for sure if there was a difference but MENTALLY i felt like I could push harder. Hell Rossi broke his leg that season b/c of a cold tire crash and he and I are basically the same guy...............
