Excellent write up! Correct me if I'm wrong, but you could also pull the dark brown wire from the clear plug? If I'm reading the schematic correctly, that wire is the left turn signal idicator light, so it isn't necessary as well.
Thanks. About the brown wire, all you would have to do is look at the left blinker wires coming out of the main harness. The wires will be the same color. I suck at reading diagrams and I especially had trouble with this manual's diagram so I just went off of a little common since mixed with trial and error. I'm sure you could remove more wires from the front harness but I mostly just wanted to get rid of the extra plugs. Any additional information could help others that want to make their harness as light as possible.

Understood. I'm spitballing on the brown wire since I was in the same boat as you when I started stripping down the harness a couple days ago. The diagram is horrible compared to other bikes I've worked with. I had to plug a spare harness together to test everything with a multimeter before I felt comfortable pulling wires! Your thread helped clear up a LOT of questions I hadn't figured out yet. I'm just assuming you could pull the brown wire (left signal) since you've pulled the green which is the right turn signal wire. I'll try it out and see what happens, LOL. So you've got complete functionality of your cluster, backlight and all? Again, thanks for posting this up!
The blue wire that connects with the red/yellow wire powers the back light. The red/yellow wires powered the headlights so in order to maintain the backlight you have to keep the headlight fuse. There may be another possible power source bit I was not being picky when doing this up.

Nice write up. That was my only complaint on my last "track only" bike. All the extra wires. Zip ties also work well for those like me that are too chicken to start hacking away at the wires. This write up is much appreciated.
For those of you that race, just remember this isn't legal in most SS classes.
Reaaally? I was interested in doing this just to clean it up. Didnt know it wasnt legal. Anything specific about it being wrong or giving an advantage since it's not touching the engine?

You can remove the horns, fans, lights, etc...just cannot remove the connectors for SS. Not a big deal to clean things up with a couple of zipties and tape.
