D&D is a "perma-pack" It wasn't designed to be rebuilt so it is a little more complicated. You will have to drill the rivets out on the end cap, make your cut, and then use a hammer from the inside to take the cap off. The prefcore on the inside is one piece with the caps.
We cut the pref-core as close to the cap as possible. Then we used a tail pipe expander to enlarge the pref-core in the muffler so that the remaining pref-core on the cap will slide into it.
A tid bit of advice... When reassembling the muffler and putting the cap on, line the holes of the cap with the rivets on the other end.
Carbon exhaust is very similar. Tape the area you want to cut. Cut in the middle of the tape and it will act like reinforcement and reduce the chances of it cracking or chipping when you cut it. Use a very fine tooth blade as well.
