So I'm making a list of maintenance as well as upgrades that I'm wanting to do to the girls this winter. Does anyone else write out a list? If so...what's on your guys' lists? It's always better to see more than one list that way if I forgot something. I'm curious to see what everyone else is doing to their bikes to enhance performance, appearance, as well as maintenance.
brake lines and pads, block offs, pcv and autotune, speedodrd and id love to work on some projectors.. good thing i have a good 5-6 months of storage time haha
Might actually enjoy this winter since it's time for some serious upgrades.
Ohlins 25mm fork kit
Racetech internals for the rear shock
DID ERV3 520 chain
Driven alum rear/steel front sprockets
Woodcraft tire warmers
Woodcraft clipons
Also will be pulling the engine and will be replacing what ever looks worn out.
To many wishlist items but definite items are a -1/+2 set up with a new chain, speedoDRD, and pirelli corsa III's to start off the new season. Buying a house in a couple weeks so the bike items are on the backburner for now. If the opportunity arises then a PCIII, smog block offs, possibly a mid pipe or MJS header set-up. All those will be one big install so one they may be a compilation of buys before the install happens.
I know how you feel. I might be moving at the beginning of the riding season and have to start saving up for that. I want to get most of the basic maintenance out of the way and then to try and do some upgrades to them to get them all prettied up.
Frame plugs
Get my fairing stay welded back together
Fix my headlight tabs
HIDs
520 and new sprockets
Case covers
Maybe some vinyl wraps for the mid fairings and tank cover
Double bubble wind screen
Brake lines and pads
Get the dent in my tank hammered out
More as the winter goes along but this is a starting point... I'll also be riding all winter so this is just as I have the time and money for the upgrades...
PCIII,
Speedo Healer V4
07 R6 Speedo
Vortex Base and Cap
FDB Short Levers
No-Cut Sliders
Mirror Block-Offs
Motomummy Res Sock
AggRacing Smog Plates
led flushmounts
Driven Sprocket Nuts
Driven D3 grips
Vortex Clip-ons
D2Moto Fender Eliminator
Billet bar ends
Driven -1,+1
Factory Pro Velocity Stacks
HIDs
BMC Air filter
Red 520 Chain
Hyperpro Damper
and a custom tune
So far all that I know that is done to the bike is Frame and spool sliders, fender eliminator, flush turn signals, HID headlights, K&N air filter...that's all I really remember. I think the first diy mod I'll do is def black out the front wind screen
- Repack steering head, swingarm pivot, and lower linkage
- Replace dented swingarm
- Pull engine, YEC head gasket, sprockets, manual chain tensioner, blueprint
- New tune
- Replace calipers (easier than rebuilding when you have a fresh set lyin' around )
- Other routine maintenance like chain, brakes, cleaning, etc.
- Finish all body repairs
- New grips
Forks and shock have a fresh rebuild, otherwise they'd both be pulled and redone. Fresher is faster baby!
-penske triple install
-ohlins internals, gp suspension compression valving
-new chain and 15,16,45,46,48 sprockets
-case covers
-Disassemble head, R&R and inspect/prep valves, check valve spring pressures, angle mill, and maybe serdi valve seat resurface, slotted cams
-new gaskets, basic winter maintenance
-buy extra front wheel
-stocking up on extra rearset pieces, clipon bars, and of course tires.
Carbon Fiber
HIDs (can't decide if I want it with or w/o the Angel Eyes)
Powder coating my rear sets
Maybe some new rims and looking into a power commander
i have done everything i can to the bike so far, the only thing left is a set of Ohlins front and rear shocks but i'll need $$$ for that. so, i guess i'll hold off on that and save my money for another bike. but until then i guess i'll just enjoy the winter and go snowboarding instead.
Honestly, I just plan on going through the service manual for everything recommended that's relatively close. Then I have new tires, some powdercoating, and a few other toys to install. Likely some HIDs, too.
The lines were easy to install in themselves, but make sure you BLEED them! Bleed through 3-4 resoviors to make sure all the bubbles are out. Your lever should feel nice and firm -- not mushy at all.
seasonal
Stabil and battery tender for each bike
wash/wax/detail
put on stands
buy oil change supplies for the beginning of next season
gather all spares for sale of one of the bikes (step one is almost out of the way, MUAHAHAHAHAHA)
WD-40 all corrosion prone parts (engine)
mods list
Start a mod list for my car while staring at my bikes
think about how much riding i will do next year
post on a bunch of forums about how much riding i am going to do next year
buy more TD's even though i didn't use any of the ones i bought this year
Think about stuff
replace summer air with winter air
loosen the exhaust bearing to help alleviate wear
check blinker fluid levels
replace anti freeze with water, this helps expand any cooling ports to help maximize cooling
remove all plastics so that gravity does not stretch out any of the mounts.
apply generous amounts of "tire wet" so the tires do not dry rot
Regular maintenance before she gets put away.
Thinking about painting my plastics with an iridescent black and green paint.
Maybe a 30 shot of nitrous (if i decide to drag it (prob not though))
Fix the scratch on my headlight housing.
Tap out the frame slider bolt that snapped and put a heli-coil in.
I'm taking this winter and just doing maintenance. I'm hoping to save up some money so I'm hoping to cover the bike and forget about it until spring.
