Hi everyone. Iam new to the forum, and also new to riding. I have roughly a year and abit, going for my full license in the spring. I currently own a 2004 r6. Its Also my first bike and had never ridin or sat on a bike prior to purchasing it. I did however go through all the required testing and rider training before i hit the street. I havent dumped my bike yet but i know it comes with the territory. So yea i just wanted to drop a post. Thanks everyone

be careful and attend as much training as you can; the r6 is NOT a starter bike...

i totally agree its not a starter bike. But i could not pass up the offer. I met alot experienced riders throuhout the year, and gone down to the local track to absorb as much knowledge as i can. Iam 26 with a wife and one child. And for the record when i go riding i wear as much gear as possible. I have a Bell rs-1 helmet, an icon contra with armor jacket, for boots i use astars smx2, and icon super duty or overlord gloves. I have seen kids go down only wearing that stryker vest and let me tell you it aint pretty. I know people say this all the time that they are ressponisble, but i truely dont push my self, i have to stick around for my family. I did however get life insurance and the highest level of coverage here in my town. Insuring a bike here where i live is not cheap at all, i paid 3200 for the 6 month riding season.

What you've got is better than nothing, but I suggest that (assuming you're in the northern hemisphere, and winter is pretty much here for you) you wait patiently for some good Dainese leather to pop up for sale used, and jump on that for a jacket. There are lots of other reputable brands, but once you've had the best you won't want to even look at other brands. :fact There are sizing charts online that are very accurate, and that should give you an idea of the size you need (they go numerically, as opposed to sm/md/lg).
