In my search for a gear indicator it seems that these are the two to be had. But which one? They are both plug and play (correct me if I'm wrong). I think the acumen has a little lag, not sure about the healtech.
I only have experience with Accumen, and it was a breeze to install. If you can get the tank lifted, the install is halfway done :fact
The lag you talk about is only when down shifting. It will not know what gear it is in till the clutch is released. If you blip the throttle and dump the clutch, then, it'll know immediately. If you release the clutch slow, then it'll get confused.
HealTech here, install and programming was a breeze. Install: lift tank, plug GI harness into OEM harness and tap two wires, done. Program: get bike on stands and go through the gears as per instructions. I've only ridden it around the block cause I had no fairings or slip-on on due to waiting parts for my track build, but everything worked as advertised.
The wiring loom comes specific for llamaja's. No need for tapping or splicing. I've had mine since my last 08, just transferred to current one when i sold previous one.
Only issue I had was the top sticky plate on it. Accumen sent 4 replacements, now thats good service :fact
It took about a week later than expected. I ordered some stuff from Rider's Discount and since that order was already placed, I just ordered the GIPro from SportbikeTrackGear. My RD order made it before my trackday and the STG order made it the day after my trackday.
There's actually no splicing, you just tap two wires and the wire taps are provided. Posi-taps would work to and would probably be easier for the install.
Anybody have a pic of a blue acumen on our bikes? I want to see if it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Doc - I might take your suggestion and put a red film over it if it's really bad. I would order the one from UK but I've got a TD in 2 weeks and I don't think it'll get here on time.
Acumen FTW. Tried, tested and proven again and again. :fact
