Just curious to see if any of you guys have a cage you race. I run my bike as a fun hobby on the street, but i have a Drag integra i race. Didnt know if any of you guys out there had any interest in any other racing out there, and were just an all around speed freak like myself :flame
And just a little backround on me since im kinda new here... I am head of inside sales and marketing manager for a company called www.epsturbos.com I deal with any and all things turbo! I race a pretty nasty integra GSR in the NHRA and NDRA sport compact racing series. (got some older videos, if anyones interested ill post em up) thats mainly it on a professional level. just wanted to see how many other speed freaks were out there!
post up some links to vids man. I have a turbo ek, just gettin done being built, should be around 580-600 hp, 350-380tq. Hopin low 10's, but its all just a guessin game till i get it on the dyno. thats the track car, my daily driver is a 00' teg, just gettin ready to drop a NA k20 in that, which will be a fun ass auto-x car.
this video was a little while ago. About half the HP i have now, went back after this weekend and sleeved the block, went bigger on the turbo, cams, headwork, new suspension, and better rims and tires. Looking to go low 10's with full interior. Next year im moving up to the pro 4 class where i can lose about 600lbs worth of interior, and run slicks.
Used to be 470rwhp but I decided that it wasn't even close to being fast enough. I'm shooting for 650 to the wheels next time around at the dyno. I need to put some hours in on tuning for the new setup. I didn't build it to be an all out drag car, I built it to be a wicked street car that could be taken to the track and still run 10's with all interior minus the back seat.
kick ass. Everyone that knows me keeps givin me shit, wanting to know when my bike will see boost... never is the usual response, second only to hell no. lol.
thats kinda my point, not only that but every turbo bike ive seen, if it doesnt have a crazy extended swing arm, slammed on the ground, all it does is stand up on you as soon as you crack the throttle. takes a crazy amount more control to ride it, to much work and to scary for me.
dude the stang sounds sick, im not up on domestics as much, how much do you have to do to get those in the 10's???i do know you can slap forced injection on anything and get it fast, but reliable??? what do you have to build on those??? do they come built enough stock to stand up to boost of any kind??
i actually think you can get a stock honda motor to handle more boost. maby not in the 10's faster but with a good tune ive seen honda hold 450 on stock componants. thats pretty quick for a honda. I think the pushrods are one of the weak points in the motor, and ive seen the stang blocks crack right in half on many occasions. not positive though..
It's not that easy guys, stock 4.6L motors let go at around 400 horsepower. Mine popped with 408rwhp. I also detroyed the tranny and rear end on separate occasions. I have quite an extensive list of mods and nothing is cheap for these cars.
I drove the car reliably every single day for a year and a half all over Tucson and just about raced every weekend with 470 to the ground. Through 17% parasitic loss on a 5 speed Mustang, that's just about 550 horsepower at the flywheel.
With my forged D.S.S. Race motor, I'm now boosting 20psi with a Vortech T-Trim. Playing with the engine management system is always fun, that's my current project --- to get a tune on the car with the new setup. Nothing really stock left on the car except for the seats and body panels...lol
It's not easy to get into the 10s. I'm fighting a 3100 foot elevation here in Tucson. Going down to Phoenix we can pick up 4/10-6/10 in the 1/4 Mile.
My car is much faster than my bike I used to race 600's with the car for fun until one day I decided that I wanted one and ended up with my R6.
didnt even notice you were from tucson...so im gettin my car down here from WA, ima need to get it re-tuned...got any suggestion on shops...im not familiar to the area.
Sweet! I have had good and bad experiences with a few places. I'll refer you to Phoenix for the hookup though unless you have an Import and there are a few good places in town.
Look me up, www.sonoranmusclecars.com/forums .. I'm a co-founder and we've got well over 500 local members. Domestic and Import.
How long have you been in Tucson? You go out on the weekends? Right now I'm deployed to South America so you won't see me out for another week or two.
i'm too broke to race, plus i really can't find a car that i really want. but i do have 2 ford 351w in my garage and a 350 buick motor. and i am really a chevy guy.
series and exhibitons... yea 240s are badass drifters but i like my supra cuz you just touch the gas n you got so much wheel spin and plus its a highway queen lol

i saw that 240 at an event i was at... my fuggkin rim broke n sent me into the wall n bashed my rear bumper in
and vkgt my supra has around 750 ill look for my dyno paper around here somewhere n try n get a pic up of it if you get around 675 hp that would be a good race i get so much wheel spin in first and some in second n 3rd so it would be nice race
edit... posted this b4 i read the whole thread
yeah alot engines will go around 400 hp but thats what is great about supra engines they are so strong but dont get me wrong im not retarded i built the shit out of my engine b4 i got 750 hp
yeah supra blocks are a diffrent story.. But for the most part 400hp and a good tune seems to be the limit. My goal for my car is to see 700 by the end of next season... we'll see.
nope, runnin only boost. Im only allowed one power adder in the class im in now, but next year when i move up to pro 4, its wide open. Slicks, nitrous, methanol... thats what im waiting for. I just cant quite afford everything i need just yet..
Depends on the application, design, and purpose of the car
Neither one is 'better' It's an age old argument that will never end.
