How long have you guys been riding bikes? Will you always ride an r6? Ever wanna upgrade to a r1? Will u always be on this forum? Why don't we share the forum with r1s like most cbrs and gsxrs do? I mean like cbrforum.com is for all cbrs. And gsxr.com is for all gixxers. But r6 and r1 seem divided. Also how long have you had your R6?
Ive been riding for 6 years or so.
My next bike is going to be a Ducati Monster 1100 or the BMW S1000RR.
Im sure if I ever do sell my R6 I will still hang around this forum.
I've been riding street since I was 18, so about 7 years or so. I've owned a YZF600r(thundercat, was my first bike), 99 R6, 01 erion edition 929RR, 05 CBR1000RR, 04 600RR, and my '03 R6. The R6 is the only one I own now, haven't owned any of the others for a while. I love the 6, no need for a 1K honestly. Unless you either want to go 180 mph or you just want something with a little more low end for city riding. A 1k isn't going to make you a better or faster rider, well you will be faster on the straights but that's it.
Out of the bikes I have owned I like the R6 and the 1000RR the best.
I've been riding for 6 years (give or take). My R6 is my 3rd bike. I'll prob keep it for a while. When I upgrade it's going to be to a sportstourer not a SS liter
Been riding 3 years, on my second bike. I'll always love the 6 and am going to run it into the ground, but once she's paid off I want to get more cheaper used bikes, maybe an sv or a ducati or a cruiser of some sort. I've been kind of thinking about grabbing a gold wing and doing some cross country riding.
Have the 09 R1, had a 954RR, and other bikes. Always love getting on the 6 every now and then and really have FUN, still outflicks the R1. Only other bike I miss is the F4i, so comfy (not seat but ergos), I used that as a commuter daily, for minor groceries, whatever, fun bike not quite like the 6 tho.
First and only bike was an 09 r6. Lost my virginity to this girl and will never love another like I do my 6. I dont know about riding the other bikes and I dont really care to learn. Nothing could compare with my R6 and at this point in my life she fufills every need I could have.
Also it kinda made me a yamaha for life kinda guy....lol.
And on top of the amazing personality she has got looks that ****ing KILL!! :YEA
Been riding street for 4 years. First bike was a 2000 R6 that I kept for a year and now I have my 2006 R6. Chances are in the next few years I'll either be moving up to a 1000 of some sort, a Ducati perhaps, or embracing my true love of dirtbikes and either getting one or possibly a motard.
For me, the R6 is just way too slow low end and I can't do 2nd gear wheelies on it, which annoys the crap outa me u have no idea.
Then you need to work on your technique. The 3rd gen R6s will come up in 3d with stock gearing if you do it right. You just aren't revving, slipping, and bouncing correctly. Not saying it's really easy, but it can be done just takes some technique.
Oh but yea, the low end on the 06-07s is the worst of all years. 08 and 09 have a little better mid range. Might throw a -1/+2 set up on there and it should help ya out a little.
this is my fourth and ive been riding for 3 years... i had a littly baby 250, got an sv (loved it), had to sell it for a ninja 650 (hated it), then i finally got the r6. i want to keep this bike forever. from day 1 when i wanted a motorcycle i saw the 07 candy red and fell in love. my plan was to get a cbr 600 cause i love the undertail exhaust, then get an r1 for later. but then i saw this bike in person and i had to have it
I love my R6 and have so much $ in I will be stuck forever lol. But I will have an R1 soon. My dad rides an 05 R1 and my lil brother rides an 03 YZF-600 so we are a Yamaha family
10 years plus, 8 bikes in, on the second r6 now; a third is inevitable; i like long rides to the beach, long rides to the mountains and wouldn't mind a few long rides from 2 or 3 of the patrons in 03 Raven's signature.
Been riding for about 22 years. I have had 8 bikes. Currently an 06 R6. BTW an R1 is NOT an upgrade, just a larger engine. Ive had 2 R1's and prefer the R6.
This is my first street bike. I love it loyally, and will most likely keep it for a really long time. I am planning on getting another bike over the winter, or tomorrow, or next month.. I guess whenever I find the right deal. I'll get something newer. Maybe at that point I'll track my 02 out. Who knows.
I've rode street off and on for 12 years. I don't think I'll be on an "off" stint anytime in the foreseeable future. I've owned 4 bikes, rode a total of 5.
-Kawasaki 250 on/off road (mid 90's, not sure of exact year)
-88 Honda Goldwing (my grandfather thought he would get into riding, he never did, so I rode it for 2 years)
-93 Yamaha FZR600
-08 Yamaha FZ6
-09 Yamaha R6
Started riding dirt:
Honda XL75
RM 80
KX 80 big wheel
CR125(favorite)
CR250
Short stint on 350 warrior and 500 quadzilla
Some street and trail 450 that I can't remember
Street:
Ninja 1000
GSXR 600
CBR 1000
Honda 250R Integra (Japan)
R6
Been riding 28 years. Since I was 18 on the street. Other than the skinny, flat tires on the 250 it was actually my favorite. Something about winding it out all the time and its weight was really appealing to me. Maybe it just felt like my old dirt bikes with more lean angle, not sure. The 6 is my first new bike. I am really enjoying it right now and honestly I am no where close to using its full potential. As money and time allows I plan on exercising every bit of what it has to offer.
This forum is only as good as it's people and my opinion of it right now is very good. Hopefully as I go along with this R6 I can contribute to it as well. Should be around here for a while.
I've been riding 8 years and have/had the following:
Had
2002 YZF600RR - Very First Bike
2004 CBR1000RR - one of my favorites bikes, fast but forgiving
Have
2003 Harley Night Train - Mostly sits in the garage
2003 Ducati 749 - my favorite bike ever
2003 LE R6 - Fun bike to keep at high rpms & beat the piss out of
2008 Honda CBR1000RR - very fast and smooth
