Picked up my 06 on Saturday and got some time on it today at Laguna. :jump
Its everything you would expect and MORE !!!!! :eek5
After picking it on from the dealer on Saturday I decided to do the usual new bike inspection and track setup. I recommend everyone do a complete inspection on their bike soon after you take delivery. (Better safe than sorry I always say) I did notice a few bolts etc that needed tightening along with the front and Rear axel that had NO grease from the factory. Nothing major, everything looked as expected.
Excellent Bike, Best Bike I have ever had straight out of the BOX !!!!!!!!!
Out of curiosity, how tall are you? You're not hanging off massively, and you look like you're not carrying a huge amount of lean for being knee-down.
Can you give a more detailed description of how it handles on the track, as compared to bikes you've ridden at Laguna? How does she handle the left-right transition over the corkscrew? Does the slipper clutch work as advertised? Any instability over turn one? How does she hold her line through turn two?
I'm a relative track novice, I'm just trying to think of bits of track that can show up faults on a bike. :-D Mine will only be ridden in anger on track. I'll ride her on the street, but if I take it to the hills, I'll be keeping things fairly mellow. I've had enough BS close calls in real world quick riding situations to really get my jollies off on the street anymore. The track is different, however. :-D
What'd your friend say when you showed him that pic?
I did not find the picture till last night so I will send it to him today.
Well at least get yourself some Supercorsas or Slicks first.. Then ride the **** outta it on the track.
I am actually running a pair of Dunlop slicks, Soft, Med, with a 180 rear.

The bike was incredible on all aspects of the track. Slipper clutch was awesome. I was used to quite a bit more engine breaking going into turn two and it was minimal. I think I was only doing 130 over turn 1, but it was stable. I need to dial the suspension in a bit more. I did feel that the stock REAR spring was TOO STIFF. I had it 1 click off of all the way soft in the rear. A softer rear spring should do the trick. I only have 190 miles on this 06, a little more seat time will help setting up the suspension and getting used to the feel of the bike. I am going back to Laguna on Friday so I will try to post more about suspension then.
Nice. How much does it cost to do some track time at Laguna?
$250-$300
Nice man....stupid question that i prob know the answer to already...how'd ya get to take on Laguna?
We have TONS of track day providers here in Northern California. You can pick up 1 track day a week if you want. Laguna and Infineon are hard to get from Jun, July and Aug but the other 9 months are easy to pick up days.
