I know I could check my battery with a voltmeter,but I wasn't sure about checking my stator and R/R. Just don't want to get stranded one day, and it would be reasurring if I could check it somehow

the service manuals don't show how to test the regulator. but the stator is a resistance test.
the first step to testing your charging circuit is testing the charging voltage at the battery.
with the engine running the voltage at the battery should be at least 14V at @5k rpm.
most bikes will be 14 at idle.
Remove the seat. Take a voltmeter and check the voltage of the battery without the bike running. Now start the bike and check the voltage again. It should be a little higher than without the bike running. Should be setting right about 12.6-13.5 now rev the bike up a little and see how much the voltage rises. It should not get to much higher than 14.3-14.5 volts. That is how you test to see that the stator and rectifier is working. If the voltage does not rise at all the stator is probably bad and if the voltage goes beyond 15 volts the rectifier is bad.
I should clarify though that that is the easy way to test. As mentioned there is a resistance test for the rectifier. Not certain of how to do it with this bike. If that passes then the stator is next in line. Different bikes run at different voltages at idle. Almost all will be higher than with out the bike running. with the bike off, the battery should be about 12.6 volts. If it is lower than 12.3 the battery may be dieing.
it should never be lower than 14 if the battery is good and the charging circuit is working properly.
lower than 14 when the engine is running is a indication of a problem.
I really appreciate it luke and blue. Sounds very simple to test both the stator and R/R. Ive got my battery out of my bike and in my room on the charger, since im not riding much right now. Tested the battery with a voltmeter and it indeed is around 12-13 volts right now.

I have seen a few in some cases where at idle it was below 14. Mine is about 13.8 at idle. My battery is an original from 5 years ago and have never had an issue. As soon as I bring the bikes rpm up the voltage rises to about 14.3 or so. Even with cars the voltage may drop below 14 at idle. Most bikes don't start making voltage untill the revs are brought up.
The service manual for our bikes says that the voltage should be 14 volts at 5,000 RPM. And that the battery should read 12.8 static with the bike off. I have always been with the schooling that 12.6 is the minimum static battery voltage for a good battery. anything less means that the battery is not up to snuff.
And after double checking the service manual it is the stator that has the resistance test. The rectifier is not testable. the procedure is as follows.
Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the stator connector probes.
looking at the connector with the flat side down ( tabs on top ) from left to right are probes or leads 1-3.
Lead 1 to lead 2 test resistance= 0.12-0.18 Ω
Lead 1 to lead 3 test resistance= 0.12-0.18 Ω
Lead 2 to lead 3 test resistance= 0.12-0.18 Ω
If out of range the stator is bad. If good and the vehicle does not get 14 volts at 5,000 rpm then the rectifier is bad. This is as per the 06 r6v service manual. It is the same for the 05 and earlier bikes as well.
My Manuel doesn't have any kind of tests like that in there... whats up with that.
