How Do I Test A CDI Unit?

Just picked up an 02 R6 for a spare track bike. It came with a ton of spares. I have an extra CDI unit in the box that has hand written "99-02 R6" on it.

The part #'s stamped on the outside look like this:
F8T362
71 5EB-30 9223

Question: How do I get this tested to see if it is good. I don't think I need an extra. I was thinking about selling it but I don't want to sell it if it is bad.

Replace the one on the bike and see if it works the same.

Thought of that but I am currently going-through the bike and replacing broken or random bits. It probably wouldn't be wise to run it sans oil.

Seriously though, I was hoping that there might be a more exact way to confirm that it is good. Is this something the dealer could check?

Yeah... that WOULDN'T be a good thing to do.

That was the only method I know about. I doubt that the dealer has a computer they can just plug into the CDI... I could be wrong tho.

But why pay for that? I'm guessing the dealer would charge you a diagnostic fee ($65+ in some dealerships). I'd just wait until the bike was in working condition and then test it out.

Just trying to unload all these spares. Maybe I will sell it for dirt cheap and somebody might get lucky.

just hold onto it until you get the bike together. Then test it real quick. Take all your spares and throw them in a box. And honestly, I wouldnt toss a lot of my spare parts. You never know when you are going to need them.

Even the dealer cannot test a cdi only way is on the vehicle,its solid state

Update:
After some research I don't think my extra CDI will work for my 02.

The part# for my extra CDI is 5EB-85540-30-00. This shows for the 99-00 model years. This is the 2 plug version.
The part# for the 01-02 years is listed as 5MT-85540-30-00. This is the one that is currently in the bike and looks to be the one plug version.

Does anyone need the 2 plug CDI on their 99-00 model?

On a related note, the Ron Ayers website shows that the old 2 plug version (part #5EB-85540-30-00) was replaced with a different version (part#5EB-85540-10-00). Does anyone know why?

Hey I would like to know that too,, My bike came with the 5EB-30 which blew up and I had to replace it with the only one i could find which was 5EB-40.. The bike sounds totally different... How much would you sell the 5Eb-30 for?
