Rear Shock Spring

Is possible to paint or buy an aftermarket stock rear spring? My bike is blue and my spring is red! I want them to match, or at least have it black.

Any suggestions, without replacing the whole shock system?
Thanks.

Re: Rear Shock Spring

You can certainly paint the stock spring. That is your cheapest & easiest route.

Paint. Or have the spring replaced with one that is proper for your weight.

I don't think you can put Ohlins internals in a Kayaba shock. But companies such as Race Tech, Lindemann Engineering, Traxxion and others can install new valves and springs if needed.

For commuting and general riding your best bet is to have the suspension set for your weight/riding preferences before you start putting thousands of dollars into components you don't need.

Re: Rear Shock Spring

You can have the shock powdercoated.. I had my penske shock coated to match the frame of my 650r. The spring was blue.

Re: Rear Shock Spring

I have a yellow spring that I want red also, how easy is it to take of the spring from the shock? I can send it to longbrake to powdercoat mine, but have no idea if I have to clamp the spring to get it off or not.

Re: Rear Shock Spring

I wish the shock wasnt such a pain in the arse to get out. I have a Red spring on my 2006 and Id trade someone with a yellow spring. Im not sure if the 06 and 08 shock are the same. I know the forks are not.
