Flashing red key symbol 2008 R6 ?

Hello!
I just bought a brand new 2008 R6 today and noticed a red flashing key symbol...
What is that ?
I start flashing when i stop the bike and keeps on flashing when i take out the keys.
The manual says nothing about that symbol.

Thank You.

Where are you located? Europe, Canada? Just wondering because they might be different because of the coded keys. I also have an 08 and am curious as to what this means and if I have to worry about it. I'm in the U.S. so I doubt it has to do with mine.

Re: Flashing red key symbol 2008 R6 ?

do not use the red one to operate the vehicle a main key.
Red one is to program new black keys.

I would try and disconnect the battery to reset the cpu. so that key goes away.(thats just what I would do)

Re: Flashing red key symbol 2008 R6 ?

If the R6 is fitted with the immobilizer system, when the key is turned to "OFF" the red indicator light will start to flash indicating the immobilizer system is enabled.

After 24 hours the indicator light will stop flashing, but the immobilizer system is still active.

See page 3-7 in your manual.

There's not one single word about the red key-light or immobilizer system in the manual i got..
What is a immobilizer system anyway ?
I'm a complete idiot when it comes to technical/machanical stuff so excuse me if the question is stupid

Re: Flashing red key symbol 2008 R6 ?

means that if someone tries to steal your bike and uses a different key or method of starting your bike..it wont start unless your key that has a programmed chip is inserted..just a safety/security feature...
