A couple of days ago I rode through a puddle of oil from a car accident which got all over both my tyres. I somehow managed to get back home without falling but now i need to clean the tyres so its oil free and safe again.
Any suggestions on how I can safely remove this oil without damaging my tyres as my bike n tires are still pretty much brand new.
I've used grease remover and hot water which has helped a bit but im not sure if all the oil has been removed.
if you would have got to it right as it happened you could have just hit a rag with brake cleaner and got it before it soaked in. You can try cleaning it but honestly i would get new tires. they are cheap compared to bodywork or your life if you go down cause of it
So I got oil that leaked from my pit scooter onto my front tire of my race bike. The tire had only one sprint race and was mint. I soaked up the oil with a rag and practiced on it...it was good after the first session.
Taking chemicals to it besides soap and water will dry out the rubber. The tire is oil based so it isnt going to be as bad as taking a degreaser or brake cleaner....
