Purpose of aftermarket clip-ons?

What exactly is the purpose of getting a set of aftermarket clip-ons? Is it just for weight savings? Or are they in a different position than the stock ones? Am I missing something here

Yep, easy to replace in a crash, some offer better postions easier to work on since they dont bolt to the upper tree like the stocl ones do..
