I searched but I couldn't find much on this topic. I bought a Technic Xcellerator suit from my friend last Sept. and I wanted to know what i should do to clean the suit, the inside that is.
He sweats quite a bit and even though the suit was used a few times at the track on blistering hot days, you can get the idea. it smells kinda funky still and i dont know if i should febreeze the shit out of it or what.
to de-sweat the inside of my suit.... I hang it up and spray liquid soap up the sleeves and everywhere else inside it that skin touches... last year when I washed it I used some liquid car wash soap I had in a spray bottle.... seems to work, it smells better and seems cleaner, just sprayed the soap out of it with the water hose.... after that I put some leather conditioner on the outside to keep the leather in good shape...
Hope this helps
If it's as bad as you say it is you can machine wash the suit. Just remove all the padding and turn the suit inside out. Then wash the suit in the washing machine with color safe woolite and set the washing machine for delicate/gentle with cold water. When the wash is done remove the suit and turn it outside out again and let it air dry on a hanger in the shower. After a day the suit should be dry to the touch, when it is work some leather conditioner into it and then turn it inside out again. Let it hang dry for another day or two until dry. When it's dry on the inside, turn it back outside out and the work in some more leather conditioner and then your done.
It's a leap of faith to do this but it works and is exactly what I do. Be sure the suit is dry to the touch before you work in the conditioner if you have light and dark colors next to each other you have slight bleeding. You can towel dry the suit a little to help reduce this. This is the only way to totally clean a suit.
thanks for the tips guy, specially luke. ea i also thought about the cleaners and such because it really only is the padding the smells. not bad, but you know the usual few trackdays in hot weather. but ill look into this and all options you guys posted
