Powder coating rims....how much did you pay?

So, I'm about to get my rims powder coated but before I go to my guy for a price, I'm curious to know what others have paid for getting both rims coated. I'm going for a flat matt black finish. No tape!

It's gonna look sexy as a mofo!

So, if I recall the guy told me like 2-3 months ago that it would be $300 if I take the rims off and bring them to him. Then I think he said it would be about $500 if he does everything at his shop and I just drop the bike there. Turn around is 2 days.

Thoughts? It seems cheap, but I want to see what others pay.

Thanks!!!

I think that actually sounds a little on the high side if you bring the rims to him. You know you will have to buy new bearings too correct???

Save yourself the cash and disassemble the parts yourself. 250-300 sounds about right. Probably depends on where you live too. Lopez just got his done, sick metallic red color. If you get this done post up some pics, i LOVE the matte black look.

I paid 75 a piece for mine. I just took him the whole rim, he took the oil seals, bearings, spacers, and valve stems out himself.

Definitely doing this myself. Good to know that sounds about right....Hopefully lopez stops through and sees this thread...or I may just shoot him a PM. I just want to be sure it's about what everyone is paying.

Re: Powder coating rims....how much did you pay?

My guy does it for 35-50 a rim. I've used him for years (did my bike).

Re: Powder coating rims....how much did you pay?

WOWWWWWWW some of your prices are insanely cheap.

When those of you who took the rim in yourself....did you take it in with the tire on it? I'm sure I can figure out how to pull it off the rim but I'd also assume it's a little pain in the a$$.

Also, after you installed it back on yourself aren't there balancing issues?

Re: Powder coating rims....how much did you pay?

I don't know why you would need new bearings. As long as you get them pressed out before he powder coats the wheels, you can press em back in afterwards. make sure the guy tapes up the holes for the bearings. If he gets PC in there it'll be hell removing it before pressing the bearings in.
