Yamaha Custom Showdown at Atlantic Beach Bikefest

Cypress CA. June 29, 2011- As if the Red Bull US Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca isn’t exciting enough, Yamaha’s breathtaking travelling display of one of a kind custom Yamaha sportbikes is sure to elevate the weekend's excitement!

The SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown Presented by Silver Star Casting Co. and Yamalube rolls into the historic Monterey circuit July 22 - 24th. Hundreds of thousands of enthusiasts were wowed by this one of a kind custom bike show at Atlantic Beach, SC this past Memorial Day weekend, and the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca event promises to be even better.

This is the fifth year the Yamaha custom bike show will be a major part of Yamaha’s display at the Laguna Seca Moto GP, an exciting fact not lost on Bob Starr, Yamaha's General Manager, National Communications: "It's incredible that it’s been five years since our first custom Yamaha show!" Starr exclaimed. "Every year it gets better. We’ve seen the quality of the motorcycle builds escalate, we’ve seen amateur builders launch businesses due to their success at the show, and GP fans from all over the world have been amazed by the hard work and craftsmanship builders from all backgrounds have poured into these unique Yamahas!"

In celebration of the Yamaha Bike Show fifth anniversary Yamaha has raised the stakes on the competition, introducing a whole new array of prizes and incentives.

At stake in the Pro Building class is over $5000 in cash prizes, and a brand new YZF-R1 to be awarded to the Pro Builder who attends all three rounds of the Showdown and obtains the greatest number of combined votes.
For Amateur builders it only gets better! Yamaha is providing $300 cash to all entrants competing onsite. That’s right - Amateur builders who submit their custom Yamaha online at http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/ss...SportShow.aspx and are chosen by Yamaha to bring their motorcycles to compete in the show will receive a check for $300 just for showing up! There is still plenty of time to enter your custom Yamaha to be included in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis on August 26-28.

Once onsite, Amateur builders will compete in three classes, Best R1, Best R6 and the all new Open Class, receiving trophies and up to $500 in gift cards courtesy of Yamaha Parts & Accessories. But that's not all! Amateur builders who participate in one of the rounds of the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown and win are eligible to compete for the title of "Amateur Builder of the Year", an online national contest judged by consumers and featuring a $1000 cash prize!

Amateur and Professional builders who compete in the SSB Yamaha Custom Showdown will get plenty of press, as photographers from title sponsor Super Streetbike Magazine will be on hand to cover the show for an upcoming issue and www.superstreetbike.com !

Re: Yamaha Custom Showdown at Atlantic Beach Bikefest

July 22nd can't come fast enough! The showdown is always awesome. Yamaha does an amazing job with this and there are some exceptional bikes on display. I was lucky enough to be selected this year for the showdown and really look forward to GP at Laguna. Enthusiast or not, Yamaha puts on an amazing display and GP is awesome in general!

Will you be at Laguna this year?
