Suomy Helmet Advice

After my crash I have gone on a saftey kick. I have a HJC AC-11 Helmet but I am looking to get something nicer. So i heard the Suomy is pretty nice. I tried some on but not sure what to go with. The larges are pretty tight but the extra large is a little large on the top side. The helmet with most likely stop me from getting a new leather jacket too since I have the Icon Ti-Max. What do you guys think I should do? Get an Icon Helmet and jacket or go with the Suomy Helmet and use the Ti-Max still?

Thanks,
Matt

Suomy are very nice helmets. One of the top lines in helmet production. I think the large with fit you well, because its tight for now, but will loosen up after a few uses. Also i believe that suomy helmets have removeable linears. So if you think its still too tight you can change it for thinner ones.

BY THE WAY ICON I will never buy any of their products anymore.

p.s you already have a jacket. So I would pick a helmet over new Icon gears

i love my suomy helmet....fits good...not real loud....visor is kind of a pain to change depending on what model.....if u go with the ventura line its easy just pop off the side plates and twist off the small ring that holds the visor in place then re-attach

however with the higher up lines that suomy offers they give you a "special tool" which is basically a odd looking piece of plastic to release the side plate's on the helmet and is quite a pain in the rear to get back on i've seen him fumble with it for over 5 minutes tryin to get the dammed things reattached.......but neither of us have any complaints about the quality or comfort.....better to go a lil tight the helmet will conform to your mellon after a while

also if you decide to go with their top of the line....beware....they're race inspired helmets.....therefore they have no concern with how loud they are and from what i've heard you basically need earplugs most of the time when your out ridin but the helmets are supposed to be super comfortable and very lightweight....

damn that was long

Edit: suomy's Spec-1R's have removable liners and so does the Extreme line....the gunwind MIGHT im not sure but i know the Ventura's dont

I have the spec 1-R flowers. I was real carefull to
use their fitting chart for an exact fit. It was real tight
at first. Now i like it that way, feels like part of my head.
I think it's unbeleivably loud though. Have to wear plugs.
Best helmet I've ever worn, graphics are killer too.

I would look at Arai and Shoei also. I have a Shoei and I'm happy with it. Your head is only worth what you spend on your helmet.

I have 3 Spec1-r helmets.... the Capirossi (mine) the hawaiin flower (wife's) and the Xaus (I bought for a friend)... they are a little loud, but then again I have a Jardine RT1 with the race baffles so it is loud...

As far as in between sizes..... the cheek pads are interchangeable... if you are in between sizes, get the smaller one and change out the cheek pads... I normally wear a medium helmet, but in the Suomy the medium was a little tight and the Lage was a little big so I bought the medium one and bought some smaller cheek pads... fixed the problem.. only problem is the cheek pads are a little expensive, but I figured since I got the helmets at a ridiculously low price, I ordered the cheek pads and still didn't pay anywhere near the retail price.... hope this helps

Oh yeah, I have pics of my lids on one of these threads.. I think it was the thread about lightest helmet...
