Is this an issue (Carbs)

Hi guys,

I have a 2002 R6 and I was just cleaning out the carbs using some carb cleaner while the engine was running. When I spray the carb cleaner into carb #2,3, and 4, the rpms drop on the tach. Now if I spray it into carb #1, the rpms DON'T drop.

Is this an issue I have to worry about or is this normal? If it is a problem, can someone point me in the right direction to rectify this problem.

SAndy

Were you just cleaning them out, or is/was there a problem?

I'm just guessing, but that would indicate to me that Carb #1 is getting more air than the others. The other three are bogging down, because you are dumping more fuel (carb cleaner) into the engine and it is normal, I don't know why Carb #1 wouldn't do it as well. Also, aren't you supposed to rev the engine when spraying cleaner into it?

Ever had your carbs sync'd?

You are correct. You should rev up the engine to around 3K and then spray the carb cleaner in one at a time. That's when the rpm's drop. But no matter how much I spray in carb #1, it doesn't affect the rpms.

I synced the carbs last year. I'll try sync'ing them again and then try the carb clean in carb #1 to see if there is a dif.

Okay, i sync'ed the carbs yesterday, tried the carb clean again and still the same results. Carb 1, no matter how much i spray, won't affect the rpm speed.

Can anybody suggest a reason for this?

MAKE SURE YOU PLUG THE SYNC HOLES UP PROPERLY, AND THAT THE CARBS ARE SEATED IN THERE BOOTS ALL THE WAY. TO CHECK FOR AN AIR LEAK ON 1 PUT YOUR HAND OVER THE CARB IF IT DOESN'T BOOG OUT THEN YOU HAVE A AIR LEAK. CHECK WITH 2WHEELTUNING.COM FOR HELP.
