Idle Problem 04 r6
Im having a weird problem with my 04 r6. When I first start up the bike it runs fine for like 30 minutes then it starts acting up. When I take off in first if I don't "ride" out the clutch then the bike stalls and wants to die. If I take off at like 3k rpms there are no problems and also full power through out the rpms.
When the bike is idling the rpms jump like if I had cams but it always did this since I got it 4 years ago. it now has 20k
I called the dealer and there are no recalls.
Any suggestions?

What exhaust is on the bike? Baffle in or out? Please list every single mod on the bike, no matter how insignificant. Clean/replace the air filter recently?
Does it have a power commander? Sure sounds like it needs one, especially with a loopy idle!!

OK^ it has a D&D exhaust with baffle and I just changed the Air filter last month. No power commander and no other mods besides HIDS. I also have another D&D exhaust I use very rarely without baffle. Thanks

If the baffle is in I can't see it messing it up that much!
Download the service manual for your bike and look at the Diagnostics mode, specifically the TPS tests and readings. Check for any codes that are set as well.
A power commander would be nice, but can't guarantee it'll fix your issue.

If they are the original ones from 04, absolutely!
I recommend Denso Iridium 5367 (IU31A) spark plugs from Factory Pro (I know their website sucks donkey balls).
http://www.factorypro.com/Prod_Pages/prody80.html
Way down at the bottom. Send them an e-mail to order because apparently spark plugs aren't compatible with their shopping cart
I also recommend the +4 ignition advance rotor while you're there

Nice! Make sure when uninstalling/installing the ignition advance rotor that the rotor/shaft does NOT move. Use an impact gun, or their screwdriver trick from their install video:
Also make sure the gasket they give you fits perfectly, I had to trim it slightly with an exacto knife (but they said that's cause mine was an R6S).

Re: Idle Problem 04 r6
there's a reason why the ignition cover has a screw that doesn't go to anything. it's so you can use a screwdriver to hold the rotor as you tighten the bolt to 25ft/lbs.
